Domain 5: Assessment and Reporting

Domain 5 is concerned with the procedures involved in monitoring, assessing, documenting, and reporting learners' needs, progress, and achievement using a range of assessment methods and strategies. This Domain is concerned with the use of assessment data to inform and improve the teaching and learning process and programs in a variety of ways. It is about teachers giving students the essential feedback on their learning outcomes. This information informs the reporting cycle, allowing teachers to choose, organize, and implement effective assessment procedures.

Assessment is the on-going process of gathering evidence for and of learning. Activities are best to use when assessing students learning, and using ICT can enhance their interest to learn. During my internship, I used word wall, Google form, and quizizz when making assessment for the students. I see to it that it assesses the students learning. I also use formative assessment when assessing students learning. In addition, when making assessment and reporting students’ progress, I always based it in learner-centered culture. It always focuses on real – world experiences of my students. Through these assessment tools, it builds student awareness about the happenings in the environment.

I believe it is important for the learners to see how much they have learned over a long period of time that’s why using assessment tool is important. Another way I can tell if students are learning is by evaluating their reproduce works, activities, and assignments.

We should also use variety of assessment because some students perform better on one type of assessment than the other. I believe that “Good teaching is more of giving a right questions than giving of a right answer”-Josef Albers. The best thing we should do as a teacher is to assess students after the lessons we had.
