“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” ~ Jeremiah 29:11
Patricia W. Brown is the founder and director of Rolling Reader with Mrs. Brown. She is a passionate advocate for reading and literacy, believing that reading is not just a skill but a vital part of life—an essential tool for success and survival.
For several years, her vision has been to find ways to provide students with free books to help them build personal home libraries. Her mission is rooted in a deep desire to foster a love of reading, strengthen communities, and inspire the development of lifelong readers. “I have seen how a love of reading lays the foundation to support lifelong learning,” she shares.
A lifelong educator, Mrs. Brown retired as a librarian from the Orangeburg School District after an inspiring 39-year career in education. As a Library Media Specialist, she introduced students to a wide variety of genres, helping them discover stories that transported them to new places and perspectives, broadening their understanding of the world. She believes reading empowers children to dream bigger and imagine brighter futures.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Claflin College, a Master of Education in Elementary Education and Social Studies from Charleston Southern University, and a second Master’s in Library and Information Science and Technology from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Patricia W. Brown is the wife of Frank Brown and the loving mother of three daughters: Franchesca, Eliza, and Francine. She is also blessed with a wonderful son-in-law, Dr. Craig Miller, and two beloved grandchildren, Brayden and Elayna, who bring endless joy to her life.
Her goal remains simple: to provide as many books as she can, lighting the path toward literacy, learning, and love for every child she reaches.
