Are you a faith-based organization?
Yes. We believe in God the Father as Creator of Heaven and Earth. We hold Christian values and will treat each student with the love of Jesus Christ. Our curriculum will be infused with our beliefs, but you are not required to hold the same views to attend.
Will you teach my child Kentucky common core standards?
We love to make learning both meaningful and fun at the same time, and we will teach many standards children typically get while enrolled in school! However, these supplemental classes are designed to enrich the homeschool experience and should not take place of traditional instruction at home.
Do parents stay?
No. This is a drop-off program. Go get a coffee! Work on your computer at the coffee shop, get some errands accomplished or give your younger babies some extra snuggles. Take a deep breath or even take a nap if you need it! Your kiddos will be in our care from 9-2.
Will students receive grades or progress reports?
No. Teachers are available to discuss each child's progress, if requested by the parent/guardian, or as needed based on our professional opinion. RHA is an enrichment program designed to enhance your child's education, therefore the parent remains the primary educator and should determine the student's progress and skill set abilities from home.
How do I pay tuition? Is there a discount if paid in full?
Invoices will be emailed and tuition is due on the 1st of each month (August-May). Parents can pay with credit card, Venmo, cash or check. Please make checks payable to Rolling Hills Academy.
How large are class sizes?
Class sizes will remain as small as possible, with a student to teacher ratio of 11:1.
Will sick or snow days be made up?
No. Tuition is non-refundable and there will be no built-in make up days for missed learning days.
If my M/W student misses a day can they make it up on a T/TH?
No, students may not use the alternate schedule to make up missed days.
What about supplies? Do parents or Rolling Hills supply them?
Part of your registration fee will go toward the purchasing of resources for each kiddo. You will need to supply your child's backpack, lunch, snack, and water bottle each day we meet. A supply list will be released to enrolled families several weeks prior to the first day of school.
Can I volunteer?
Yes! We love having parents and family members share their talents! We also welcome supply donations, gift card donations, etc. that can further enhance our classrooms.
How will you communicate with families?
We use the Remind App most frequently but also send periodic emails to families of enrolled students. Anyone can follow along with our learning journey @rollinghillsacademy on IG and FB.
What curriculum will you use?
Various programs will be utilized as needed including (but not limited to): The Good and the Beautiful, Standards-Based Unit of Studies, Orton Gillingham (or similar) based phonics techniques, Brave Writer, curated units, Lucy Calkins literacy strategies, and more.
