Library and Technology Objectives
Rolling Hills Primary School serves 2nd and 3rd grade students. The library curriculum for these grades includes fiction, nonfiction, biographies, utilizing the catalog system to locate information, locating specific materials, determining themes, and author’s purpose. Third graders will also learn beginning inquiry and research skills. Previously learned skills will continue to be reinforced. Technology is integrated throughout the library curriculum. Students use 1:1 Chromebooks to access the library catalog. They are educated on utilizing the Google software provided by the district in grades 2-12. Students learn to show respect by giving credit to other people’s work. They are taught positive digital citizenship in addition to the district policies on acceptable use of computers, use of district technologies, and cyberbullying. Lessons are provided on protecting their privacy. This knowledge prepares them for their continuing education. Additionally, technology is utilized in all subjects and many situations within the school.
