While you will not always have the latest technology at your disposal, keeping up with tech trends will help you stay knowledgable on the subject and help you think of creative ways new technology could be applied in the classroom.
Technology now permeates our culture from a young age, and has become an integral part of how we learn, work and simply live. It is essential for your school's youth to be able to navigate the internet safely and ethically. Information literacy and digital citizenship are subjects the school librarian is typically relied upon to teach, and is an important part of helping your students become good global citizens (Crockett, 2018, p. 30).
Technology can be an amazing teaching tool, but in order to be effective it must be applied properly; the latest digital whiteboard becomes little more than an expensive novelty item if not used in a way that increases the learning potential of an activity. Sometimes simple is better; you do not have to have the most current tech available in able to teach effectively.
