There is a little boy and girl in this picture, both with fair skin. They both look to be about 5-9. The little girl has dark brown hair, brown eyes, and seems to have her hair pulled back. She is wearing a white shirt with a design on the front that looks blue and pink. It looks like she may have black pants on. The boy is wearing a blue long-sleeve shirt that says GAP in red. He has blonde hair and blue eyes with a smile full of teeth. They are both sitting on dark gray lawn chairs. In between their heads, there is a white platter full of cupcakes. There are two candles in the middle and the cupcakes are vanilla with white frosting and pink sprinkles. One candle is blue, the other is pink. In the background behind the boy's head, there is two other figures, both in yellow shirts. I can't tell for both of them, but one looks like a child due to the size of his arm. The cupcakes are sitting on a glass, clear table that has a black metal frame. On the table behind the cupcakes, there are two red solo cups, one water bottle, a green/blue container, two Capri Sun pouches, a rock, a binkie, a baby bottle, a can of Bush light, and a can of soda. There is also a pair of white-socked feet behind the little girl's head.
From my physical observations, this looks like it could maybe be a birthday party. There are other people in the back, there are cupcakes, candles, and drinks scattered around the table. The little boy seems to be happier than the girl, but his smile looks a little forced and was defiantly for posing purposes. I want to say it was the girl's birthday because of the pink sprinkles on the cupcakes. She is smiling a little, but not as much as the boy.
For context, this was a picture of my brother (5) and I on my 7th birthday. I was born on May 7 so this was my Golden Birthday! My brother's birthday was a week before, and we normally combine our birthdays together and have one big party, but this year I wanted my own. We were outside in my sunroom. We had friends and family over to the house to celebrate. While this was definitely a day of fun and happiness for me, since I got to open presents, eat cake, and play with friends, in this family, we always expect something "unlucky" to happen. Toward the end of my party, a storm started. The winds were so strong that we all came back into the house. I remember sitting at my dining room table and watching the wind pick up my trampoline outside and carry it all the way down to my fencerow. The next day, when the storm was over, we found out that the trampoline got punctured by a tree and we had to get rid of it. To my 7-year-old self, this was devastating. From that birthday on, it seemed like a storm happened every year on my birthday until I grew up. I think this was the year where I realized to always expect something to happen. While it still was a fun day, it was the first memory I remember of something "unlucky" happening to me during a fun time.
