I went to college, so I could be a student-athlete and play football. After many injuries on the gridiron, I started my true educational journey when I found a passion as a writer tutor about a decade ago. Since then I've directed three writing centers and taught at various universities. I'm currently the Director of the Writing Center and Institutional Tutoring at my alma mater Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. I also teach composition courses at the university and support the graduate programs in Nursing and Religion.
My research examines composition pedagogy and theory, writing centers, responding to student writing, learning transfer, dispositions, and writing development. I also write fiction and poetry when I find the time. For more about my research, check out my Google Scholar profile.
When I’m not reading, writing, teaching or engaged in duties associated with my director position, I’m avidly following Kansas City Chiefs football (finally SuperBowl Champs!), hanging out with my awesome wife Meghan and/or with the rest of my family/friends, traveling, or hiking/backpacking (a newly formed hobby of mine).
