Rock Creek Baseball In The Community

The Rock Creek Baseball Team recently helped out St. George Elementary by raking and spreading their new mulch on the playground.

All Star Game

Carson Zenger and Tucker Gehrt participated in the 2018 KABC All Star All State Game Wednesday, June 6 on the red team. It was a close game with the red team beating the blue team 9-8.

Mustangs Receive All-State Honors-2018

Four Rock Creek Mustangs were honored with state awards this week. Carson Zenger was named Class 4A-II Player of Year and earned first Team All State for the third year in a row. He is hitting .597 (40 of 67) with 32 RBIs and nine doubles. Zenger, the team’s starting shortstop, also posted impressive numbers on the mound. Zenger is 4-0 with two saves, recording 22 strikeouts in 21 innings of work. read more...

Senior Catcher Tucker Gehrt joined Zenger on the first team. Gehrt, who also earned a second-team selection as a sophomore, is batting .483 with 35 RBIs in his final campaign.

Junior pitcher Ian Russell was named to the second team, while senior first baseman Derek Shaheen netted honorable mention honors. Russell has a 6-0 record with 32 strikeouts, and Shaheen is clubbing .438 with 29 RBIs.

Mustangs Give Back

The Rock Creek baseball players recently visited St. George Elementary first and second graders to read aloud books to them as part of the giving back to the community.

Game Highlights

Regionals- Clay Center Kansas- 5/15

Game 1 last night saw Ian Russell absolutely dominated on the mound in a 10-2 win over Marysville. Ian threw 6 innings giving up 2 runs (none of which were earned) on 4 hits with only 1 walk and 12 strikeouts!! Cam Minihan closed out the game throwing a perfect 7th inning with a strikeout. At the plate the Mustangs were led by Sky White who broke the game open with a bases loaded triple in the 3rd inning. Skyler was 2-3 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI. Caden Churchman provided a double and an RBI and 8 different players scored a run in the game…a total team effort.

The championship game was an 11-4 win over a very tough Clay Center team. The Mustangs got going in the 3rd inning with Brooks Whaley leading things off with a hard hit ball followed by bunt singles from Skyler White and Cameron Minihan to load the bases with no outs. Derek Shaheen doubled to left center to score 2 and get the Rock going. Shaheen finished the game 2-4 with a double and 4 RBI. Cameron Minihan was 2-3 with 3 runs scored and a double and Carson Zenger and Tucker Gehrt each had multiple hits in the game as well. Caden Churchman provided a big 2 RBI double in the 5th as the Mustangs won their 5thstraight regional title and qualified for the state tournament in Salina next Thursday and Friday.
