A normal climbing day starts with breakfast at the accommodation before we head out to the crag together! When we arrive we’ll do a safety briefing, warm up properly, and then spend the morning climbing. We’ll stop for lunch, then carry on climbing in the afternoon before heading back to the accommodation. In the evening, we’ll have dinner together, which might mean eating out, cooking a communal meal, or doing our own thing depending on what the group prefers. After that it’s chill out time - games, chats, and relaxing after a big day outside!
All trips are £210 per person, which includes your weekend accommodation, climbing instruction, coaching, use of group climbing equipment, and support throughout the weekend.
Travel and food aren’t included, so you’ll need to cover your own transport to and from the Peak District, plus meals and snacks. We’ll help coordinate lift sharing where possible and chat as a group about food plans closer to the trip, whether that’s cooking together, eating out, or a bit of both!
Our trips can include bouldering, rope climbing, or a mix of both, depending on the group and the conditions. We tailor each weekend around what people are keen to try, so let us know on your enquiry form whether you’re more interested in bouldering, rope climbing, or just getting a bit of everything!
We'll be staying in group accomodation in the Peak District - generally around a 30 minute drive from Hathersage. Accommodation varies from bunkhouses to Airbnbs depending on the trip. All accomodation includes single beds or bunkbeds, but you will be sharing rooms.
You don’t use ropes when bouldering - instead you place soft crash pads underneath the climbs to land on if you fall. Because boulders are short and there can be lots of different routes on one boulder, it’s easy to get stuck in and try things. It’s also really social, as everyone can work on problems together!
On bouldering days we’ll teach you how to boulder safely (placing the pads, how to fall, how to spot each other, and more) and how to climb on real rock (how to use your feet and hands efficiently, routereading, body positioning, and more).
On these trips, routes are usually around 10 - 20 metres high. You’ll climb in pairs, with someone climbing and someone belaying them (holding the safety rope).
On rope climbing days you’ll be able to climb higher than bouldering, but you’ll usually do fewer routes in a day as rope climbing days involve more technical skills including tying in, belaying, and rope work. You’ll also learn about climbing movement and how to be efficient when climbing on longer routes! We’ll be top-roping on these trips, not lead climbing.
