A normal climbing day starts with breakfast at the accommodation before we head out to the crag together. Once we arrive, we’ll do a safety briefing, warm up properly, and then spend the morning climbing. We’ll stop for lunch, then carry on climbing in the afternoon before heading back to the accommodation. In the evening, we’ll have dinner together, which might mean eating out, cooking a communal meal, or doing our own thing depending on what the group prefers. After that it’s chill out time - games, chats, and relaxing after a big day outside!
On previous trips have visited areas such as Stanage, Burbage, Curbar and The Roaches! Each day we'll choose the exact location based on the weather and what the group wants to get out of the trip!
Our trips can be bouldering, rope climbing, or both! We tailor the itinerary for each based on trip what people want to get out of it - so specify on your enquiry form and we’ll make it happen!
No! There are climbs suitable for all abilities, and we can accommodate everyone! You’ll get the most of the trip if you're comfortable climbing around V2 or above indoors, but complete beginners are welcome - just come with a positive mindset as climbing outdoors feels very different to indoor climbing!

Our trips have 6-10 participants, and at least 2 instructors. You're welcome to join as an individual or with other people!
Yes - climbing is a dangerous sport. We'll teach you how to climb safely, and help you manage risk throughout the weekend. However, all participants should understand that climbing is an adventure activity and accept the risks involved. All participants must understand and accept the BMC participation statement: 'Climbing, hill walking and mountaineering activities involve a risk of personal injury or death. Participants should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.'
A full packing list sent to you with everything applicable for your trip! There is a general packing list here but please refer to the specific one as kit might change based on the trip
All you need to bring is your personal climbing equipment - namely climbing shoes! If you have a harness, helmet, and belay device then bring these too, but if not we will bring them for you! We'll bring all the safety gear - bouldering pads, ropes, and everything else.
We'll improvise, adapt, overcome! Depending on the weather we might start earlier or later to work around showers, or we might drive to an area slightly further away, go for a hike, or go indoor climbing and do some movement coaching and technique work instead. Hopefully as the trips are over the summer there won't be two days of full rain!
We usually aim to be done by 5pm so everyone can make it back to London not super late!
Food is not included in the price, but we'll either cook together in the evenings or eat out locally!
Our trips are non-refundable, but you are welcome to transfer your place to someone else. Depending on how much notice you give, we might be able to fill your place with someone else - but this is not guaranteed.
Personal insurance isn’t required, but we recommend considering it! Rock & Roam has public liability insurance, but this doesn’t replace your own personal cover for things like injury, cancellation, travel disruption, or lost/damaged kit.
