Physician Assistant School Interview Guide by Savanna Perry
Tip: You are expected to know this during an interview.
Tips:
Prepare! Mock interview as much as possible and try and prepare as if it is the real interview down to ensuring you are making eye contact.
Get at least 8 hours of sleep & eat a well balanced breakfast.
Arrive early! Map out the route to the interview. Be familiar with traffic patterns and parking.
Don't panic. Take deep breaths, you are well prepared and having the interview invitation means you are qualified for the program!
Prepare questions to ask the faculty, dean, and students. Always take advantage of the opportunity to ask questions.
For online interviews:
Make sure your video camera is angled well. Ensure they can see you in the frame. (Place your computer on top of books if needed).
Eye contact means looking directly at the camera! (Not at yourself or the interviewer on the screen).
Use a neutral background.
Find a location with good lighting. (Use a ring light.)
Make sure anyone you live with is aware you are interviewing so background noise can be reduced.
Use headphones. The sound quality is much better for the interviewer.
Don't fidget. It's both visually distracting and can cause unintentional noise disturbances over the video.
Additionally, every program has a different interview structure (multiple mini, group, traditional, faculty or student panel etc.). Familiarize yourself with the programs interview structure so you know what to expect the day of.
