The Rochambotics Outreach Program:
This year, our team took on an outreach project: introducing the kids in preschool to the basics of robotics! We used the Elecfreak Cutebots paired with Micro:bit micro-computers—they're simple enough for them to grasp the concept without getting bored. Our main goal was to spark an interest in these young minds and get them excited about what robots can do.
We haven't just focused on the little ones, though. We’ve also been working with older students(4th and 5th grade), giving them a solid introduction to programming skills. Since coding is a massive part of what makes robots function, we feel it's important to share the knowledge we have and make sure they’re ready for more advanced robotics down the road. It’s all about building foundation knowledge through genuine interest.
Who knows what robots will look like in just five years? Ten years? But these kids are the future engineers and programmers, and we want to give them an early start.
