Mission

OUR GOALS

  • Responsible and trustworthy interaction with artificially intelligent anthropomorphic service robots

  • Development of a concept for authentic and acceptable human-robot interaction (HRI)

  • Investigation of interdisciplinary fundamentals of HRI regarding gestures, facial expressions and haptic

  • Development of a socio-technical system

  • Experimental testing and evaluation of the socio-technical system of HRI for exemplary operational scenarios

IMPORTANT RESEARCH QUESTIONS

  • How can anthropomorphic service robots be placed in a responsible manner?

  • How does a service robot's moral, transparency, safety, and customers' privacy needs impact customer trust and robot acceptance in a customer relationship?

  • How does the interaction with responsible service robots change human-robot interaction over time?

SELECTED RESEARCH SCENARIOS

  • With the help of the knowledge we gain through laboratory experiments with our robots, we want to apply our knowledge in the field in the service sector. For this purpose, our robots are used for example in sales. This allows us to conduct user studies with real customers.

  • Overall, we intend to use several types of experiments (e.g., online user studies, laboratory and field experiments) and different types of anthropomorphic service robots (i.e., humanoid and android robots) to design and conduct responsible HRI experiments.
