European Rover Challenge 2022
RoboClyde is a team of students representing the University of Strathclyde at the European Rover Challenge (ERC). The ERC is an international competition with the goal to develop Mars Rovers which will be tested during the main event in a simulated Mars Yard. The main event takes place in the second week of September every year at the Mars Yard located in Kielce, Poland.
Below you will find the team description and the team structure with a list of positions avaiable on the team. Currently team is not working on the competition, please contact sourabh.ch@outlook.com for any questions.
The team will be led and managed by the Project Manager / Cheif Engineer. The overall team will be divided into 4 sub-teams namely, Mechanical, Electrical, Software and Sciecne subteam. Each sub-team focuses on different aspects of the project.
The Mechanical sub-team will focus on designs and builds the rover chassis and the robotic arm. Team members will first design the components in CAD which will be reviewed with advisors and overall team members. After reviewing the approved design will enter the building stage.
The Electrical sub-team designs the power manangement system and buidls the electrical circuit that ensures safe and reliable fucntioning of the electrical components of the rover. Task will involve designing PCB circuits, wiring together the electrical parts the rover.
The Software sub-team builds the user interface and the autnomous navigation functionalities of the rover. Members will use GitHub to collaborate on tasks and build the base software for controlling and for automous navigation using Robot Operating System alongwith a web interface to operate the rover.
The Science sub-team will conduct a geological survery of the rover landing site and plan the traversal mission to collect data and samples from the Mars Yard, in Kielce Poland. (Yes Mars is not another planet, its always been in Poland).
