Mentorships in FTC (First Tech Challenge) are relationships between experienced individuals and youth participants in the program. Mentors provide guidance, support, and knowledge, helping students develop their skills in robotics, engineering, and leadership.
Our team mentors are engineering majors from the University of Texas at Austin and Penn State computer science majors. Other mentors spoke to us from other states, such as Mr. Haneet from Washington, who helped us design our outtake and design mechanisms.
Mentoring other FTC teams during our season is a fulfilling and impact endeavor. Firstly, it allows us to share our knowledge and expertise with others, giving back to the community we belong to. By mentoring, we inspire and motivate younger teams, fostering a love for robotics and technological innovation. Additionally, mentoring offers a unique opportunity for personal growth and development. As we guide and support others, we enhance our own leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Moreover, mentoring builds a network of like-minded individuals, creating a sense of camaraderie and collaboration within the FTC community. Ultimately, mentoring allows us to leave a lasting impact and contribute to the growth and success of future generations of FTC teams.
