People

Jim Robinson PhD

Jim is Fc Receptor Biology group leader, with a background and PhD in immunogenetics. He is currently supervisor for two PhD students and and academic lead for the Immunogenomics Research Facility which employs three staff members, and academic lead for the NIHR BioResource Leeds Satellite Laboratory

Euan Baxter PhD

Euan is a very experienced Postdoctoral Reseach Fellow with postgraduate supervision responsibilities for two PhD students. Euan leads the cell and molecular biology practical work and is skilled in the creation of stable cell lines, cellular PPI assays, flow cytometry, expression analysis, chromatin structure and gene regulation.

Jess Wan (PhD student)

Jess is a BHF-funded 4-year PhD student investigating the role of FcγRIIa in antibody-driven inflammation and thrombosis in diabetes and vasculitis. This work extends our FcγRIIa programme, building on our use of Affimers to modulate signaling outcomes and contributing to our knowledge of the role of immune complexes in cardiovascular disease.

Daisie Yates (PhD student)

Daisie is funded by the British Heart Foundation to investigate the role of platelets in the pathogenesis of thrombosis in autoimmunity, specifically the role of FcγRIIa in the induction of platelet hyperactivity. Daisie is developing an 11-parameter flow cytometry panel to analyse washed platelets and whole blood. This panel will be used for deep-phenotyping of patients with vasculitis, with the aim of identifying biomarkers to differentiate this group of inflammatory diseases.

Lubna Shafi (Research Technician)

Lubna is an experienced Research Technician and is professionally registered with the Science Council. Lubna mainly runs the Olink Proteomics service now offered externally. Other core skills include genotyping (MLPA), next generation sequencing library prep, flow cytometry analysis of microparticles, troubleshooting problematic workflows and sample tracking.

Steve Martin (Research Technician)

Steve runs the sample processing arm of our Immunogenetics Facility. Core duties include coordination of sample collection/shipping, database management, nucleic acid extraction, tissue banking, HTA compliance, sample tracking and data protection.
