A SHORT BIO NOTE

Robert Aliaj Dragot is an influential Albanian artist known for his work across multiple disciplines, including music, his unique blend of painting and performance. Born in Tirana on February 18, 1960, Dragot initially pursued painting, studying at the Artistic Lyceum of Tirana. His artistic path led him to experiment with a variety of mediums and techniques, including photography, video, and performance art, reflecting a critical exploration of both Albanian and European socio-political themes. Dragot's work often addresses issues of identity, societal transformation, and political change, drawing from the intense shifts Albania has undergone in recent decades.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Dragot gained popularity as a singer, participating in several Albanian music festivals with notable songs like "Dashuria" "Ca fjalë qiellit" and "Dy gjysma molle." However, by the late 1990s, he transitioned back to his passion for visual arts, channeling his creativity into paintings, videos, and multimedia projects. Currently based between Brussels and Tirana, he is particularly known for his provocative, multimedia explorations that often critique social and political realities through a variety of artistic expressions.

Dragot has also been a familiar face on Albanian television, serving as a panelist on programs, tv-reality shows, interviews.
