Travel

Malta International Airport is served by many major international airlines and Malta’s own Air Malta. Ryanair also has a major hub at the airport and its subsidiary Malta Air. This network connects Malta to a sizable number of destinations. Two fast ferries to nearby Sicily operates daily. Sea freight services also operate regularly to Malta’s commercial ports. Malta’s small size makes travel times within the island short, and a taxi from the airport to the yacht club takes 15mins and costs 20 euro. Taxi services and car hire are readily available at the airoprt.

Accommodation

There are a number of hotels in nearby Sliema, which is one of the central tourist districts with good shopping, restaurants etc. The hotels we use are in the ST Hotel Group the Azur Hotel, Bayview Hotel, and the Blubay Hotel all are in the town of Sliema and within walking distance of the Yacht Club. We have negotiated a discounted price at the ST Hotels and if you use the promo code "SCF" when booking from their website you will get the discounted regatta rate.

There are some lovely boutique hotels in Valletta, and there is the Grand Hotel Excelsior just opposite the Yacht Club. If you plan to stay there, we can pick you up by RIB each morning. There are some excellent deals on Airbnb in the Ta' Xbiex, Gzira and Sliema neighbourhoods.

Tourist Information

Valletta is known for its museums, palaces, grand churches and one of the best views in Europe that of Grand Harbour. Baroque landmarks include St. John’s Co-Cathedral, whose opulent interior is home to the Caravaggio masterpiece "The Beheading of Saint John.” The whole city is a World Heritage Site recognised by UNESCO.
