The Race has been rescheduled to start on Saturday 1st August from Malta to Syracuse. This will be followed by a race from Syracuse to Taormina starting Monday 3rd.

This will be the 60th edition of this classic offshore race popular with local and Sicilian crews. First raced in 1960 the Malta Syracuse Race was held every year since then alternating in direction each year organised jointly by the Royal Malta Yacht Club and the Lega Navale Italiana, sezione di Siracusa. In 2019 a first leg from Messina to Syracuse was introduced leading on to the Syracuse Malta Race creating the Ulysses Challenge Trophy. In this anniversary year the race starts in Malta and finishes in Syracuse and will be followed by a second leg to Taormina. In this anniversary year an especially big fleet is expected to take part. The 50th edition had a record entry of 115 boats. Will this record be surpassed in 2020?
