This is the first time for me to teach English for Elementary students in Elementary school. It was an exciting and rewarding experience. I taught one topic about Prepositions in class. I learn a lot from my cooperating teacher and my students (grade 4). I had many opportunities to learn how to manage my class and solve problems in class with myself.
I would like to present my class grade 4C English , on 12 September 2023, My class starts at 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. I taught the topic is Preparation of place in 1 hour. I always excited before I teach because content and material is a bit difficult for me to teach Elementary students be must explain students about Prepositions terms in English and Indonesian language. I followed with my lesson plan when I thought my students.
-10 minutes for preliminary activities (greetings, pray, motivation activity).
- 25 minutes for developmental activities (teacher’s explanation, discussion, problem solving).
- 20 minutes for evaluation (worksheet)
- 5 minutes for conclusion and generalization from the lesson.
There are problems that I found in my class as follows:
1.It quite hard for me to control the students. Especially before break or lunch because they are tired and hungry they feel lazy to learn in the last class of the day.
2. Sometimes, the student don’t understand what I am saying because English is hard for them to understand.
I solve about problems as follows:
1. I use group process and game to teach my student in my classroom. I divide students into groups. Associates will work together to solve the problem. That method helps me to control my classroom easier, Students who don’t understand the lesson can ask them friends in the group and solve the problem together. In addition, my students learn how well the group achieved their goal and maintained an effective working relationship.
2. I write some word which difficult to understand on the board for student in Indonesia language
I used group process and game to control my classrooms. Furthermore, I give some reward for a student which group had the high score in the class that a great way to motivate them.
