ReseARCH Lab Overview

Wiress Networks and resource allocation is key to next generation communication systems.  In recent years the drive for efficient use of radio speactrum and the drive for more diverse applications has driven wireless networks to adopt techniques divergent from previous generation networks.  To address the limited spectrum and network capacities, we are researching Spectrum Sharing and Quality of Service techniques to not only further increase the capacity of the network, but also assure Quality of Service.

Research Project areas

1)  5G QoS protocol design

We are currently researching 5G QoS assurance methods over Heterogeneous networks, includes IoT.  We aim to develop efficient and fair end-to-end protocol for use at each level of the network.  The ultimate goal is a light-weight end-to-end QoS Assurance mechanism.

2)  Data Integrity Assurance

In network environments without a centralized controller, a distributed trust mechanism must be designed for IoT to succeed.  We are in the early stages of investigating use of blockchain for securing both IoT and Non-IoT networks.

3)  Machine Learning

Determining the expected behavior of a system or wirrless medium requires derivation of a model to predict future states.  We are also in the early stages of investigating use of machine learning to predict future wireless channel states to make more efficient use of the limited radio spectrum and transmit data more efficiently in IoT and Non-IoT networks.
