The bands at Riverside High School have held a standard of excellence for many years. A recipient of the South Carolina Band Directors Association's Outstanding Performance Award for nine consecutive years, the bands have been successful on all fronts of musical performance. The band family is a place where students can feel challenged and pushed towards musical excellence while making lifelong memories with their peers.
The RHS Wind Ensemble is the premier group at Riverside HS. Students in this ensemble perform at the highest level and tackle pieces at the Grade VI level. Students perform near collegiate level works and have performed at stellar venues such as the USC Band Clinic as a featured ensemble and in Washington, D.C. at the U.S. Army Band's "Presidents Cup" National Concert Festival. The Riverside Wind Ensemble has received countless Superiors and Superiors With Distinction at SCBDA Concert Performance Assessment.
The Riverside Concert Band is a preperatory ensemble that builds advanced skills for the High School level musician. Students in this ensemble work on foundational ensemble skills that develop high level musicianship in all areas. The Concert Band performs Grade IV music and has received Superiors at SCBDA Performance Assessment in 2024.
The Riverside Percussion Ensemble is made up of all percussion students in the Riverside HS Band Program. These students are a part of the percussion class at Riverside High School and work to learn fundamental and advanced skills in the area of percussion.
The "Pride of Riverside" Marching Band has had a long history of excellence and is proud of its place in the community at Riverside High School. The Marching Band Program has been a SCBDA State Finalist in Class 4A 4 times in its history and has won countless caption awards at local competitions. The band has performed at both the Greenville Poinsettia Parade and the Greer Christmas Parade, and has been a featured performer at Disney's Magic Kingdom parades. The marching band provides its students with leadership opportunities that will serve them in their adult lives and challenges its students to find their voice and place in this stellar group.
The Riverside High School Colorguard is the auxiliary and visual element of the Pride of Riverside Marching Band. The guard also performs in the Carolina Winter Ensembles Association and hosts a Varsity Winterguard and a JV Winterguard. The guard has won many caption awards in the fall marching season, and most recently, the JV Winterguard won the Bronze Medal at CWEA Championships in 2024.
The Riverside High School Winter Percussion Ensemble is a percussion only ensemble that competes on the CWEA circuit. This winter ensemble has been a successful part of the Pride of Riverside Band Program and won the Bronze Medal at CWEA Championships in 2024
