When is track & field season?
The regular track & field season is in the spring, and runs from late February/ early March through April. The team's end of season party/ celebration is usually held in May.
When does the team practice?
For both cross country and track, practices are held 2-3 times a week. Practices during the week are Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6-7:30 PM. Weekend practices will vary, depending on facility availability and whether or not a meet is scheduled that weekend.
What if I am not sure if my child wants to join?
Come to a few practices first before committing. Speak to one of our coaches to discuss further.
What does my child need to bring to practice?
Running shoes, water, and a positive attitude!
How should my child prepare for practices? Are there any "do's and don'ts?"
You need to make sure your child stays well-hydrated throughout the day. Chugging water right before practice is not recommended. Light snacks over heavy meals right before practice are also recommended.
Am I required to stay at practice?
If your child is 8 and under, yes, you are required to stay the entire practice.
How much does it cost to register?
Registration is $350. There are discounts available if registering a sibling or re-using a uniform. Registration covers the uniform, shirt, sweatshirt, registration for all meets, end of season party, gifts, and administrative fees.
Where do you recommend we buy running shoes?
Youth running shoes can be found at Big Peach Running stores or Road Runner Sports. If you have specific questions about shoes, speak to one of our coaches.
When does registration open?
Usually, registration opens for cross country July/ August. Registration opens for track & field in December/ January. Join our interest list if you want to receive an email as soon as registration opens! Add our team email address to your contact list so the email doesn't go to junk or spam.
How can I purchase spirit wear to support my athlete?
Registration for cross country or track includes spirit wear for your athlete. If family or friends would like to purchase additional spirit wear, a separate order form is usually created and shared each season with the updated design. Spirit wear from prior seasons can also be purchased at discounted prices, but will be limited in availability.
Will practices that are missed due to weather be re-scheduled?
No, we typically will not reschedule a practice if we have to cancel due to weather. Our coaches will send a communication out with a recommended workout your athlete can complete at home.
What if my child is homeschooled? Can I still register?
Yes! You are still welcome to register and join the team if you are homeschooled! We are a very supportive, welcoming, friendly, and encouraging team, and would love to welcome your athlete.
Are there practices over the summer?
We do not have any official practices over the summer, but we do encourage all of our new and returning athletes to stay in shape and keep running before the cross country season begins! We recommend that our elementary runners aim to complete 100 miles over the summer, and we encourage our middle school runners to complete 200 miles over the summer. Below are some trackers you can download to log summer mileage:
Elementary Students: Download the 100 mile summer challenge tracker
Middle School Students: Download the 200 mile summer challenge tracker
