Math

The math curriculum for the Fort Mill School District and RTES is the South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Standards for Mathematics. The Math In Practice modules and the state support and unpacking documents are wonderful resources to reference when teaching this curriculum. It is an expectation that teachers follow a math workshop instructional framework. A strong focus should be on building deep number sense and conceptual understanding. Best practices such as active engagement, student math talk, manipulatives, drawing/writing about math, and story problem contexts should be an integral part of daily lessons.
