Mrs. Alice Aldredge

Alice Adkins Aldredge is a member of the South Carolina Band Directors Association, National Association for Music Education, Women Band Directors International, and the prestigious American School Band Directors Association. She is currently serving as Past President of the North Carolina Band Masters Association and recently retired from teaching in NC. She has worked as a clinician and adjudicator for marching and concert bands in Texas, Mississippi, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Before relocating to SC, she was the director of bands at Northwest Cabarrus Middle School. Other teaching experiences include nine years working as the Director of Bands at Croatan High School in Newport, NC. During her tenure at Croatan, the program garnered national recognition at Bands of America and Winter Guard International Championship events. Additionally, Mrs. Aldredge has been an educator in Scotland and Robeson counties. Additional personal accolades include NCBA Award of Excellence Award for South Eastern District and Teacher of the Year awards from Carver Middle School and Northwest Cabarrus Middle School.

Her bands have received consistent superior ratings in Grades II, III, IV, V, and VI literature, and her ensembles have performed for the North Carolina Music Educators In-Service Conference, Bands of America Regional Concert Band Festival, Bands of America Regional and Grand National Marching Band Championships, and Winterguard International Regional and World Championships. Mrs. Aldredge has continually placed students in All-District Bands, North Carolina All-State Honors Band, North Carolina All-State Honors Orchestra, North Carolina Eastern Region Jazz Ensemble and North Carolina All-State Jazz Ensemble.

Alice currently resides in Summerville, SC, with her husband Tripp and twelve-year-old son, Greyson.

Mr. Erik McMahon

Erik McMahon is a Band Director at River Oaks Middle School, and Oakbrook Middle School as well as the visual caption head for the Fort Dorchester Marching Patriots. Mr. McMahon graduated Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music with an emphasis in Instrumental Music Education. While at USC, Mr. McMahon studied trombone with Brad Edwards, and performed with the USC Symphony with one of the shows featuring the NYC Ballet Stars dancing to Swan Lake.

An alumnus of the Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps, Erik McMahon was a member of the baritone section in 2013 and again in 2015. The Cadets are a 10 time Drum Corps International (DCI) World Champion receiving their most recent title in 2011. In 2015, The Cadets received the Jim Ott High Brass award which is given to the drum corps with the best and most consistent brass performance.

Prior to his arrival at River Oaks and Oakbrook Middle Schools, Erik was a middle school band director in Charleston County. Prior to his professional teaching career, Mr. McMahon was a Visual Tech at Lexington High School with the marching band from 2014-2016 in Lexington, South Carolina. He also assisted with brass sectionals throughout the marching seasons as well as tested students at surrounding middle schools for brass placement in their middle school band programs.

Erik McMahon, originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, moved to Lexington, South Carolina to finish his public education. Mr. McMahon holds professional affiliations with the South Carolina Band Directors Association (SCBDA), the South Carolina Music Educators Association (SCMEA), and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). Mr. McMahon currently resides in Summerville, South Carolina and teaches private low brass lessons and master classes at surrounding middle schools in Dorchester and Charleston counties.
