Upper Grammar 5/6

2023-2024 Student Supplies for Upper Grammar (5-6) HISTORY, LIT and SCIENCE (Science is listed below)

Parents,

After reading the list and comments, if you have any questions, please text (418-6873) or email me. Parents of returning students, please note that there are no changes from the ’22-’23 supplies list.

The first three items will be needed daily, but will go back and forth from home to classes so that students can use them for homework.

Scissors, colored pencils and other coloring items and adhesives will need to remain in class.

For HISTORY and LITERATURE, NO BOOKS will be needed in class unless it says on the weekly schedule, “Please bring name of book to class.”

For HISTORY, students will need their SOTW (Story of the World), v4 maps in class daily.

In the SOTW Activity Book, maps are spread out among the Student Activity Pages in the back. Please either separate these and place in a folder or envelope marked with student’s name (to be carried in the backpack), or have your student carry the Activity Book back and forth for each class.

If your family uses the digital version, please print the maps and send them in a folder or envelope marked with student’s name. Another option, as we won’t use all of the maps in any volume, is to check the weekly schedule (posted by the previous Friday) and print only the needed maps.

Students will use some of the other SOTW Student Activity Pages to complete assignments at home.

UG SCIENCE

No additional supplies are needed for UPPER GRAMMAR SCIENCE, but since science texts and “notebooking journals” will be used in class each session, students will need to individualize the covers of their books. Stickers, colored tape or book covers will work. If students’ science books look different, they will pack and carry home the wrong books less often. Even the tutor has taken the wrong book occasionally!

Hope that you and your families are enjoying the last weeks of summer!

Looking forward to meeting with students!

Thank you,

Erin Bona (UG HIST, LIT and SCIENCE; MG HIST and LIT)
