Phase Change Materials prove to be a good source of thermal energy storage, since they exhibit good latent heat capacities across a wide range of melting temperatures
CFD and Heat Transfer Methods can be utilized for simulating the change in phase and subsequently energy storage using Phase Change Materials (PCMs)
Optimization and careful evaluation of properties is necessary to simulate the conditions of phase change in enclosed domains
Further Information can be found on Phase Change Energy Storage
Offshore Wind Turbines require devices to mitigate the effects of vibrations generated due to the strong wind and tidal currents
This is often achieved by using Tuned Liquid Column Dampers, which are used for damping the vibrations by allowing the fluid stored in them to have an oscillatory motion
A secondary turbine inside these devices would be able to extract the energy dissipated by the liquids, facilitating the dual energy extraction from Renewable Energy Sources
Wind Turbine Generators require a specific Temperature Range to be maintained in the stator housing, especially since the Turbines are deployed at various locations with varying climates
Heat Exchanger Design was based on CFD and Heat Transfer Analysis for fluid flow inside the Generator Casing
Generators are an integral part of the Turbines, since they house the stators and rotors which include packed copper windings
These are generally housed in the nacelle after gearbox and brake assembly, connected to the hub of the turbine with the rotor shaft
Wind turbines are sized by the amount of electricity produced by the generators, due to the rotational torque provided by their turbine blade assembly
A recurring problem on Assembly Lines of Mass-produced Cars is the difficulty in fitment of parts on the car Body In White (BIW)
One such problem was observed to be the fitment of the tailgate carrier, and individual part which fits into the rear of a car
This problem was resolved after study of the part dimensions and on-site data analysis which revealed the deviation in fitment areas
The deviations were removed which led to smooth part fitment and functioning of the assembly process
Visual Inspection and Production Reports suggested defects on the mass produced vehicles
Analyzing the data procured from the production departments, the recurring problems were identified to be with the fixtures in the framer locators like milers, pins, and clamps
The locators were observed to be worn out after a certain amount of time and a periodic maintenance procedure was established for them
