Gardening Committee Report 2021

'Come forth into the light of things, Let Nature be your teacher.'

-William Wordsworth

Aptly said by Wordsworth, let nature be our teacher not mother( feminist discourse). Now here the question is 'can we do anything without nature?' There is always debate between nature, culture and technology, but we are the integrated part of nature, can not be departed from it. To save it, to protect it is our responsibility. Every year we plan a 'Gardening day' but In 2020 back then there was a spread of Corona Virus, which also taught us that nature doesn't want us, we need nature to live. Due to this virus we were not able to gather together at the department and do gardening work as per our traditions.

Fortunately in the month of March things were quite normal, with the consolation with Prof. Barad sir Gardening Committee Leaders decided to arrange a small gathering of people to do work. Allover we have done works like

Cleaning of surroundings of Department

Tree/plants plantation

Colored some blocks

  • Plantation and Gardening Day celebration :

Earlier in the month of February we brought some flowerpots and some plants for plantation. (Due to Covid 19) leaders were not able to come to the department, some committee members brought these on the behalf of the department). Plants were like

Back then we invited people via a What's app message in groups to come on 4th of March earlier around 9 to 10am in morning to do some gardening work. It was decided to celebrate that day as a Gardening Day. Because there was spread of Coronavirus few students were allowed. It was not compulsory, but students came to work more than our expectations. We had some gardening tools provided by Our Department, all students helped enthusiastically. First we did all the cleaning around the Department, then we stored all the leaf litter in a pit and we buried another plastic litter in the ground.

  • Coloring of Blocks :

After gardening day, we decided to color some blocks and trees. Because of Covid 19 we had to work with very few students. It was like a gardening week, before lecture we decided to color the blocks daily. Very few students came, they were like Mehal, Hina, Asha, Ravina, Dhara, Jignesh and Committee Leaders. For this we brought Raddle (Geru - Red eco-friendly color) and White lime. We were planning coloring trees also but because of Covid 19 we were not able to completing the work.

  • Tree Plantation :

On 16th March one of the Gardening Committee members Sanjay Jogdiya bought a tree to plant at the department.

SO, here are some of the glimpses of Gardening day celebrations :
