Company Informational Packet 2022-2023

RISE Dance Co. believes that being involved in competitive dance develops positive self esteem, confidence, accountability, and leadership in young dancers. In our program, dancers have the opportunity to perform for large crowds and compete against many other teams from all over the state. We will always maintain a high standard of age appropriate routines and uniforms for our dancers. Our goal is not necessarily to take 1st place, but rather we encourage our dancers to do their very best and improve from one competition to the next, and most of all have fun. We believe our philosophy has really made our competitive dancers excel both in the competitive environment, as well as in every class and performance at RISE.

Auditions: Saturday, June 18th

Ages 10-12: 10:00am - 12:00pm

Ages 13-18: 12:00pm - 2:00pm

Dancers should be wearing a black leotard, dance shorts or leggings, and have jazz shoes or pirouettes.

Once teams are finalized, we will schedule a parent/dancer meeting to review contracts, schedule, etc.

Placement:

Placement in our competitive teams is based on the following criteria: technique, potential, commitment level, enthusiasm, attitude and behavior in class, attendance and stage presence. We are looking for dancers who are excelling in their core classes, extremely motivated, hard working, consistent in their training and technique, and ready to be pushed to the next level.

The number of teams we decide to take this year will depend on number of dancers auditioning, number of dancers who meet the criteria, etc. If either team does not have enough dancers, RISE reserves the right to eliminate one of the groups. If your dancer is interested in doing solos, duets, and trios, they must be on a competitive team at RISE. If the team for their age does not have enough dancers to carry a team, these options are still available for your dancer, after approval and discussion with your instructors.

Attendance & Time Commitment:

Company is a team. Just as sports teams require all players to attend practices, dance companies require their dancers to attend all classes and rehearsals. Absences will not only affect the individual dancer, but the Company and team as a whole.

Each dancer is allowed (5) excused absences, and up to three (3) unexcused absences from Company classes and rehearsals.

Students should not miss more than the provided absences of any one class per dance season; after which, the dancer may be dismissed from the Company. Dance requires consistent ongoing training, and dancers who excessively miss classes will not be able to perform at the same level as those who have attended all classes regularly. If absences are becoming an issue, it is the teachers right to remove a member from any piece for recital or performances.

Dancers must be present in ALL their classes and rehearsals two weeks prior to every performance or competition. We ask that the month prior to recital, you are attending every class (November and May).

Being a member of a dance company is a privilege and comes with responsibility. Personal accountability is essential for a successful season, and commitment to your other company members is a vital component of this success. When a member of the company is not present, it negatively impacts your entire team.

Competitions are an all day event and dancers are required to stay for awards to receive their recognition and placing.

Estimated Financial Obligation:

These prices are based on past seasons and estimations, please know that prices may differ slightly. We have priced items at a high point to know the max you will pay.

We understand that the financial obligation can be a lot. We don’t want this to cause a dancer to not be able to participate in our company. Please reach out if a payment plan needs to be discussed. We are always open to fundraising as well, if a group needs help with funds. We want every dancer to have the opportunity to compete! :)

  • Costumes will be discussed and chosen by a list of approved costumes provided by the instructor/choreographer.

Solos, duets, & trios must be communicated and submitted to Ms. Caitlin & Ms. Julia no later than August 1st, to allow time to find choreographer, register for competitions, schedule rehearsals, and order costumes. We will not accept any additional dances after this date.

To compete additional routines, dancers are agreeing to the extra commitment of learning choreography and being available for 10, 1 hour rehearsals. Dancers must have weekends available for rehearsals since we hold classes every weekday until 9:00pm. If you do not have extra time to commit, please consider that adding this to your plate might not be a good idea.

  • Conflicts must be communicated with written notice, by August 1st. If conflicts are not communicated, we will assume that our date and competition was scheduled first, and will take priority.

  • We will do our best to accommodate personal schedules, but can not guarantee that all conflicts will be avoided.

  • A final schedule will be given with confirmed dates by September.

Please e-mail info@risedanceco.com with any questions! If you are out of town for auditions, please reach out. We will try to accommodate. Thank you!
