The Crow Sta. Ana team emerged as the Grand Champion in the historic first-ever E-Sports Tournament of the City of Taguig, after an intense and action-packed Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Finals held on Thursday, October 23, at the Barangay Wawa Multipurpose Building.

The champions secured a clean sweep victory over T2 Batang Napindan, who settled for the 1st Runner-Up spot, while Batang NLB finished as 2nd Runner-Up. The venue roared with excitement as the finalists showcased high-level gameplay, tactical coordination, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

Organized by the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO), the tournament brought together Mobile Legends teams from various barangays, highlighting the city’s continued support for emerging digital sports and youth-driven engagement.

The elimination round was held on September 21, where 23 barangay-based teams battled for the chance to advance to the finals. Each team consisted of six players chosen by their respective Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials during the Smoking and Vaping Prevention for Taguig MOBA Players event last August 12, 2025 — an initiative promoting health awareness and responsible gaming.

The program also reinforced City Ordinance No. 15, Series of 2017, or the Comprehensive Smoke-Free Ordinance of Taguig, by raising awareness on the risks of smoking and vaping and offering support for those wishing to quit.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is a globally popular Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game that pits two teams against each other in strategic real-time battles, requiring teamwork, quick decision-making, and sound tactical execution.

LYDO Head Atty. Aldrin Sinues said the tournament opened opportunities for young Taguigeños to showcase their talents in a positive way.

“This initiative started with the thinking na mapalaganap ang e-sports dito sa Taguig. Sinusubukan natin na palawakin ang mga puwedeng gawin ng mga kabataang Taguigeño,” he said.

“Ito ay nagpapatunay na ang kabataang Taguigeño ay hindi lamang sa larangang pampalakasan, kundi pang e-sports din.”

Crow Sta. Ana standout player Chris John Pagulayan expressed pride in their historic win.

“Sobrang nakaka-proud na kami ang first-ever champion sa e-sports tournament na ito. Hindi naging madali mag-champion dahil marami talagang magagaling na players sa Taguig,” he shared.

“Pero ‘yung mga lose streaks namin, ginawa naming stepping stone for success.”

He also encouraged fellow youth to balance gaming with their studies.

“Sa mga kabataan, huwag lang mag-focus sa ML. Unahin ninyo ang pag-aaral dahil marami pang career path na puwedeng tahakin,” Pagulayan added.

He thanked the City Government and its leaders for supporting the growth of e-sports.

“To Mayor Lani Cayetano, sa Taguig, at sa LYDO, maraming salamat po for making this big event happen at mabigyan kami ng avenue para makapaglaro ng ML as a sport.”

“Sa pakahulugan at simbolo ng parol natin, nagbibigay-tanaw tayo sa mayamang kasaysayan ng Taguig. Hayaan natin ang ilaw ng mga parol na ito ay maghatid sa atin ng pag-asa.”

Mayor Lani Cayetano led the symbolic Christmas Parol Lighting, celebrating hope, unity, and Filipino tradition, in a ceremony held on Wednesday, November 12, at Cayetano Boulevard.

The ceremony marked the simultaneous lighting of Parol installations across major roads in the city, including General Santos Avenue, M.L. Quezon Avenue, Bayani Road, Cayetano Boulevard, Heritage Park, and Lawton Avenue. 

This year’s Parol installations were inspired by Taguig’s rich weaving tradition reflecting the strength and solidarity of Taguigueños. Each color tells a story: red for courage, blue for peace, yellow for joy, and white for faith. More than decorations, these parols shine as symbols of hope and togetherness, illuminating how Taguig continues to weave light and life into one community.

In her message, Mayor Lani emphasized the deeper meaning behind the light of the parol, a reminder of faith, hope, and God’s constant guidance in the lives of every Taguigueño.

“Ang gabing ito ay magbigay sana ng inspirasyon sa ating lahat na palaging may pag-asa sa Panginoon. Dahil ang liwanag na hatid ng pagsilang ng Panginoong Hesu Kristo ay sumasaating lahat. Anuman ang mga pinagdaraanan nating pagsubok—maging personal, pambarangay, panglungsod, o pambayan—manalig tayo na ang liwanag ng Panginoon ay palaging nariyan upang tayo ay gabayan at pagpalain.”

Mayor Lani also extended her heartfelt prayers to those affected by recent calamities, reminding everyone to keep compassion and solidarity alive this Christmas season.

“Alalahanin din natin ngayong gabi ang mga kababayan nating pilit lumalaban at tumatayo mula sa pinsalang dulot ng lindol at ng bagyo. Kasama sila palagi sa panalangin ng Taguig.”

To further spread the joy and spirit of Christmas, the City of Taguig treated attendees to staple Filipino holiday delicacies such as puto bumbong, bibingka, hot chocolate, and salabat. The event also featured performances from the Taguig City Employees Chorale, Koro de Sta. Cecilia, and the Taguig City Band, who serenaded the crowd with beloved Filipino and international Christmas songs.

 Let’s talk about that music video — and did I already say ear candy? Well, this music video is eye candy. A treasure trove of surprise cameos and blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments (no spoilers, promise).  Before “Happy For You” ever found its way to streaming platforms, Uncle Bob’s Funky Seven Club had already been playing it in their live gigs, one of which I got to experience first-hand a few months back at The Backdoor in QC. Every time I hear it, I remember that night , that feeling of being pulled out of the dark by a melody that radiates pure happiness. It’s the kind of track that reminds you life can still surprise you in the best ways  that even when you’re at your lowest, there’s always something, or someone, waiting to make you smile again. And that’s exactly why I’m writing about it because “Happy For You” made me just that: happy, and grateful to still be here to feel it.

The City of Taguig and the National Housing Authority (NHA) have formalized their partnership for the redevelopment of the historic Fort Bonifacio Tenement to ensure the safety and welfare of its residents through proper and sustainable urban renewal.

Mayor Lani Cayetano and NHA General Manager Joeben Tai led the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Wednesday, October 8, at the New Taguig City Hall Function Hall.

Under the agreement, Taguig is authorized to redevelop the Fort Bonifacio Tenement under a usufruct arrangement, which allows the city to use and develop the property while ownership remains with the NHA.The city government will fund and implement the project, covering the relocation of residents, prioritization of qualified beneficiaries, and conduct of information campaigns. The NHA and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) will provide technical assistance, while ownership of the property will remain with the NHA.

The Fort Bonifacio Tenement was declared unsafe and condemned by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in 2010. The MOA signifies the partnership between the NHA and the City of Taguig to carry out a comprehensive redevelopment plan that prioritizes safety, stability, and improved living conditions for its occupants.

Mayor Lani said Taguig envisions a transformative redevelopment that preserves the community’s legacy while addressing its structural needs:

“Our vision is to transform the Tenement into a safe, sustainable, and community-oriented housing development, one that preserves the social ties built through decades of shared living while providing residents with a dignified and resilient environment."

She added that the agreement symbolizes not only a city milestone but also a long-awaited promise to the residents:

“Today marks an important milestone for the City of Taguig, one that has been many years in the making, carrying not only a plan for redevelopment but a promise of dignity, safety, and stability for hundreds of families who call the Fort Bonifacio Tenement their home. Good governance is not measured only by buildings constructed, but by the lives we rebuild and the trust we restore.”

For his part, NHA General Manager Tai expressed confidence in the partnership:

“Ang MOA na ito ay nagpapakita ng ating nagkakaisang layunin na i-develop ang makasaysayang Fort Bonifacio Tenement at tugunan ang pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan para sa isang progresibo at sustenableng komunidad. Kami sa NHA ay kaagapay ninyo sa darating pang mga proyekto sa City of Taguig."

NHA NCR South Regional Manager Cromwell Teves also commended Taguig for its active collaboration:

“We are very thankful to Mayor Lani Cayetano for this newly strengthened partnership. As we continue to address the rising challenges in the housing needs within the NCR, we look forward to the completion of this redevelopment project and assure our full support until its completion and in future endeavors."

Taguig City formally opened the Felino Marcelino Sr. Baseball Stadium in Ususan on Tuesday, October 7. The new facility reflects the city’s drive to strengthen sports development and promote wellness and active living among Taguigeños, especially the youth.

Located along Cayetano Boulevard, the stadium can accommodate 850 spectators. It features spacious dugouts, a bullpen, a first-aid room, and designated batting and practice areas. The complex also houses the City Sports Development Office, which will oversee the implementation of various sports programs and events.

The Felino Marcelino Sr. Baseball Stadium is envisioned to become a hub for sports and wellness, hosting activities such as softball, football, boxing, archery, darts, biking, and other athletic events. It will also serve as a venue for tournaments, formations, and community gatherings.

Beyond being a sports facility, the stadium stands as a symbol of Taguig’s investment in community development and youth empowerment. It aims to encourage young Taguigeños to embrace sports, develop their skills, and cultivate values such as discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

In her message, Mayor Lani Cayetano expressed pride in the completion of the new stadium, noting its role in enhancing sports and wellness opportunities in the city:

“Ito ay isang baseball stadium na pwede nating ipagmalaki. Hindi lang ito para sa enjoyment ng mga Taguigeño, kundi maaari rin tayong mag-host ng competitions. Ang pangarap natin ay makaakay ito ng maraming kabataang Taguigeño na maengganyo sa larangan ng sports at mapangalagaan ang kanilang wellness.”

Mayor Lani highlighted that the stadium reflects Taguig’s openness to collaboration and shared experiences:

“This stadium is meant to be shared — not only with Taguigeños but also with fellow Filipinos and our friends from around the world. This will surely put Taguig on the map. We will continue to work hard so that more facilities like this will rise in the city.”

Councilor Rodil “Tikboy” Marcelino, son of the late Felino Marcelino Sr., thanked the city government for dedicating the facility in his father’s honor:

“It’s an honor for our family that this stadium is named after my father. Umasa po kayo na aming iingatan ang pasilidad na ito. Very thankful po kami sa Taguig, lalo na kay Mayor Lani Cayetano."

The playing field was also inaugurated last May, adding to the city’s growing roster of modern public facilities, which are designed not just for competition, but to inspire young athletes and bring communities together through sports.

The inauguration concluded with an exhibition game between the Taguig Little Generals and the De La Salle Zobel Baseball Team, showcasing the young athletes’ skill, passion, and camaraderie. The friendly match marked the first official use of the newly inaugurated Felino Marcelino Sr. Baseball Stadium — a facility that will serve as a training ground and home for aspiring athletes in Taguig.

Highlighting her advocacy for child-friendly spaces, Mayor Lani Cayetano led the groundbreaking ceremony of the TLC Play Park, Taguig’s first and largest park designed especially for children, on Monday, October 6.

Located along Laguna Lake Highway in Barangay Lower Bicutan, the TLC Play Park will soon become the city’s biggest outdoor playground — a vibrant and safe space where Taguigeño children can learn, play, and grow together.

Once completed, the park will feature wide play areas, interactive installations, and family-friendly amenities that promote creativity, physical activity, and stronger family bonds. More than a place for fun and recreation, the TLC Play Park will serve as a safe haven where children can experience the joy of childhood within a nurturing and secure community.

In her message, Mayor Lani said the project reflects the city’s faith-driven and family-oriented values — emphasizing that every initiative of Taguig stems from love and care for its people, especially the youth.

“Ang araw na ito ay araw ng pagpapasalamat sa Panginoon. Isa na namang proyekto ang nabuo mula sa pag-ibig. Ang tuon dito ay ang espesyal na pagtingin ng Panginoon sa buhay at puso ng bata. Dahil alam natin ang espesyal na puwang ng mga bata sa puso ng ating Panginoon.”

She added that the playground was built to remind children that the city government values their happiness and well-being:

“Inaasahan natin na ang mga kabataan ay pupunta sa playground na ito at mararamdaman nila ang pagpapahalaga ng city government sa kanilang welfare. Ginawa natin ‘to sapagkat mahalaga sa atin ang kasiyahan ng mga kabataan.”

Think Big Taguig head Chi Datu Bocobo shared that the TLC Play Park marks another step toward the city’s vision of creating inclusive, caring, and child-friendly spaces.

“Ito ang pinakamalaking parke para sa mga kabataan dito sa lungsod ng Taguig. Ito ay espesyal na idinisenyo para sa mga kabataan. Magsisilbi itong pamana para sa kabataang Taguigeño upang sila ay lumaking masaya, matatag, malusog, at kapaki-pakinabang sa isang ligtas na komunidad."

Also joining the ceremony was Little Mayor Denise A. Mastrili, who expressed her excitement for the project and represented the Taguigeño youth in celebrating this milestone.

Taguig City celebrated its first-ever World Lake Day on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, coinciding with the global observance introduced this year by the United Nations to raise awareness about the importance of lakes and their sustainable management.

The city marked the occasion with the Regatta sa Lawa, a traditional boat race at Laguna Lake in Barangay Lower Bicutan that united fisherfolk, athletes, and residents in a vibrant celebration of culture, environmental advocacy, and community spirit.

Barangay Bagumbayan emerged as the grand champion, finishing the race at 7 minutes and 39 seconds. It bested Barangay Sta. Ana, which placed second at 7:59, and Barangay New Lower Bicutan, which came in third at eight minutes flat.

Fifteen barangay teams took part in the rowing competition, using five-man fiberglass boats—four paddlers and one drummer—crafted by Taguig’s own boatmakers. The Regatta or Karera ng mga Bangka is a long-standing tradition in Taguig that honors the city’s roots as a fishing community and celebrates the bounty of Laguna Lake.

Mayor Lani Cayetano, who graced the festivities, said the activity reflects the city’s heritage and values:

“It’s such a special day for the City of Taguig dahil sine-celebrate natin ang Regatta, na bahagi ng tradisyon ng Taguig. As we all know, ang Taguig ay nagmula as a thriving fishing and farming community, kasama rin ang duck-raising industry. Natutuwa ako dahil nananatiling buhay ang tradisyon na ito sa tulong ng ating mga mangingisda. Salamat sa pagbibigay kulay sa ating kultura.”

Bagumbayan team captain Jomel Calindacion credited discipline and teamwork for their victory:

“Araw-araw po kaming nagsasanay para dito pagkatapos naming mangisda sa lawa. Maraming salamat po kay Mayor Lani at sa Taguig dahil nabibigyang-pansin ang mga mangingisda at ang kakayahan naming sumagwan at magpakita ng aming galing.”

The event was organized by the Taguig Lake and River Management Office (LRMO) in partnership with the Sports Development Office (SDO), the local fisherfolk community, and various stakeholders. It carried the theme “Lakes: The Lifeblood of Our Planet” and featured an exhibition match by the Philippine Dragonboat Team and the Philippine Canoe Kayak Dragonboat Federation (PCKDF). National paddlers demonstrated world-class techniques that inspired the audience and encouraged local youth to try the sport.

Paddler and drummer Carmel Fufunan of the national team said the gathering not only promoted rowing but also underscored the need to care for Laguna Lake:

“We are grateful dahil open ang community dito, at willing kaming tumulong para maengganyo ang mga Taguigeño na subukan ang dragonboat. Maganda kasi ang shore at lake dito—perpektong lugar para makahikayat ng mga soon-to-be athletes.”

She also stressed the importance of environmental responsibility:

“Ine-encourage namin ang lahat na alagaan ang lawa. Sana magtulong-tulong tayo at huwag magtapon ng basura. Isa sa mga paraan ay ang tamang waste segregation para mapanatiling malinis ang ating lawa.”

Aside from the Regatta, Taguig also celebrated the World Lake Day with a symposium on lake conservation and a lake-based livelihood training to raise awareness on lake management and promote alternative lake-based livelihood options.

Following the collaboration established in June 2024 between the City of Taguig, Temasek Foundation, and Singapore’s KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH), efforts are now underway to enhance healthcare services and infrastructure in Taguig—particularly in the areas of maternal and child health (MCH).

The Presentation of Maternal and Neonatal Program was held at the SM Aura Office Tower on July 31, representatives from the City of Taguig and its partners finalized key components of the program, solidifying their shared commitment to improving MCH outcomes in the city.

This partnership is a direct outcome of the State Visit of His Excellency Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore, to the Philippines in June 2024. His visit underscored the commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Singapore and the Philippines, with particular focus on sustainability, healthcare, and economic cooperation.

As part of this diplomatic engagement, the City of Taguig hosted Singaporean delegates, healthcare leaders, and local medical practitioners for the Presentation of the Maternal and Neonatal Program. The event served as a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration, highlighting global best practices and joint strategies in advancing maternal and pediatric healthcare.

In June 2025, key healthcare leaders from Taguig also joined a three-day sponsored study visit to KKH in Singapore. The visit offered valuable insights into advanced healthcare systems and fostered deeper collaboration to elevate MCH services in the city.

At the core of this initiative is a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by the City of Taguig, Temasek Foundation, and KKH, which sets out the following key objectives:

• Improving MCH Indicators: Focused efforts to strengthen health outcomes and data metrics related to mothers and children in Taguig.

• Infrastructure Planning and Capacity Building: Upgrading and expanding maternal and child health centers across the city.

• Enhancing Systems of Care and Referrals: Streamlining processes and strengthening referral pathways to ensure timely and appropriate care for mothers and children.

Because of the strict protocols and close coordination between the City of Taguig and PNP Taguig, 4 individuals were arrested on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, inside the Hagonoy Sports Complex evacuation center after being caught in possession of suspected illegal drugs.

The City of Taguig strongly condemns this act. Evacuation centers are meant to serve as safe spaces for families affected by emergencies—not places for illegal activity.

Taguig upholds a strict zero tolerance policy on illegal drugs and criminality. No part of the city, including evacuation sites, will be allowed to harbor such activity. The City is working closely with authorities to ensure those responsible are held fully accountable under the law.

The City also urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. Your cooperation is vital in keeping Taguig a safe and secure city for all.

Re-elected Mayor Maria Laarni “Lani” L. Cayetano officially took her oath of office as the duly elected City Mayor of Taguig on Thursday, June 26, at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall of the New City Hall Building in Brgy. Ususan, Taguig City.

This event marked two unprecedented firsts for the City of Taguig: it was the first-ever oath-taking ceremony conducted at the New City Hall, and the first time in Taguig’s history that a sitting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court—Hon. Alexander G. Gesmundo—administered the oath.

Mayor Lani was joined at the ceremony by her husband, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, City Administrator Atty. Jose Luis Montales, and Executive Assistant for Health Dr. Cecille Montales. Following the formal oath, Mayor Lani signed the official document, formally signaling her new term as Taguig’s local chief executive.

Also taking her oath on the same occasion was Senator-elect Pilar Juliana “Pia” S. Cayetano, who pledged to continue her advocacy in championing key legislation on health, education, women’s rights, and inclusive development at the national level.

The City of Taguig officially opened the Hiraya Taguig Youth Development Center on Wednesday, April 30, 2025—a safe and inclusive space designed to empower young Taguigeños through volunteerism, skills training, and community engagement. The event also marked the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between the local government,  LoveYourself Inc. and Pia Wurtzbach-Jauncey to deliver integrated services and youth-centered programs.

Located along Laguna Lake Highway in Brgy. New Lower Bicutan, the two-storey facility provides opportunities for the youth to explore their interests, connect with peers, and participate in activities that promote personal growth, leadership, and social responsibility. It is envisioned as a vibrant, multi-functional hub where young people can learn, collaborate, and thrive in a supportive environment.

On the first floor, the reception and culinary learning area offers a relaxed atmosphere with lounge seating and a cozy nook. It also functions as a venue for cooking and baking lessons. Adjacent to this space is the co-working and training room, designed to accommodate conferences and workshops.

The second floor features an open space that can be converted into a seminar room, training area, or activity center. This floor also includes a Statement Wall displaying motivational messages that reflect the values and aspirations of the Taguigeño youth.

A view deck overlooking Laguna Lake adds a scenic and calming space for reflection and conversation. A mini-pantry is also provided for youth entrepreneurs, with a youth-run coffee shop serving guests with refreshing beverages.

The center also features a spacious multipurpose open ground ideal for physical, social, and emotional development. The area can accommodate fitness and sports activities, community-building events such as mini-concerts and competitions, as well as outdoor leadership training, workshops, and other recreational activities.

In her message, Mayor Lani Cayetano emphasized the purpose and spirit of the new facility:

“The Hiraya Taguig Youth Development Center will be a vibrant space for growth—a home for leadership, civic involvement, creativity, and collaboration.”

She said the facility is meant to equip the youth with real-world skills while nurturing their desire to serve and make a difference in their communities.

Addressing the youth, she added: “This space belongs to you. Let it echo with your voices, your creativity, and your hopes. May it be a place where you discover your purpose, build lasting friendships, and take bold steps toward becoming leaders of change.”

SK Federation President Joanna Mae Pagkalinawan also shared her thoughts, emphasizing the larger vision behind the center: “Today marks not just the opening of a facility, but the beginning of a movement — a safe, inclusive, and empowering space for our youth.”

The development of the center was further supported by fundraising initiatives such as the Love Gala 2024, held on December 3, 2024, at the Marquis Events Place in Bonifacio Global City, where Miss Universe 2025 Pia Wurtzbach-Jauncey auctioned off her iconic fashion pieces in support of the project.

As a partner and LoveYourself Inc. ambassador, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach-Jauncey shared her gratitude and hopes for the center:

“This dream would not have been possible without the support of the City of Taguig, especially under the leadership of Mayor Lani Cayetano. Together we held countless meetings and in-depth discussions on how to build and operate a youth center that will truly serve its purpose. And all of that hard work has brought us here today. May the youth center continue to be a beacon of hope, healing, and growth for the youth in our communities.”

Dr. Ronivinn Pagtakhan, Founder and Executive Director of LoveYourself Inc., described the symbolic essence of Hiraya in his message:

“Ang Hiraya ay isang inspirational space. Isang lugar kung saan pwedeng mangarap ang bawat isang kabataan. Katulad ng Taguig, ito ay pinaghalong modernong lungsod at probinsya na may pusong maalaga. Taguig City proudly welcomed Miss Universe Asia 2024 Chelsea Manalo during her visit to the Lights of Christmas Park at TLC Park, Lakeshore Highway, Brgy. Lower Bicutan, last December 21.

This was Manalo’s second homecoming parade, following her visit to the SM Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City on December 20. The “walking parade” gave fans a chance to see and celebrate the first-ever Miss Universe Asia, a title introduced this year.

Excited cheers greeted Manalo as she paraded through the park. The event also featured 20 Taguigeños performing the iconic Tampisaw Walk with Manalo and a grand fireworks display.

Liga President Jorge Bocobo, speaking on behalf of Mayor Lani Cayetano, warmly welcomed Manalo:

“Bigyan natin ng masigabong palakpakan ang ating Miss Universe Asia Ms. Chelsea Manalo. Welcome po dito sa Taguig at sa aming TLC Park. Manalo thanked the Taguigeños for their overwhelming support:

The Taguig Generals claimed their fifth championship title, winning the National Basketball League (NBL) Season 2024 President’s Cup with a thrilling 91-88 victory over the CamSur Express in Game 5 of the Championship Series held on December 21 at the Jun Dueñas Gym, Central Signal, Taguig City.

In a game filled with intensity, fans were treated to a nail-biting contest that showcased the determination of both teams. The fourth quarter was especially electrifying, as the Generals and Express went head-to-head, trading baskets until the final buzzer.

LJ Mayo led the charge for the Generals, delivering a remarkable performance with 21 points, 17 rebounds, and 2 steals. His contribution throughout the series earned him the Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

This championship marks the Taguig Generals’ fourth  consecutive NBL title and fifth overall, further cementing their reputation as one of the elite teams in Philippine basketball history.

The victory was a result of the team’s hard work and the strategic mentorship of of head coach Bing Victoria.

Mayor Lani Cayetano, who witnessed the victory, shared  her pride and joy in the team’s achievement:

“I am very happy, and proud of our team. Praise be to God! It was a sweet victory for the team. Puro puso ‘yung binuhos ng team natin at ipinakita ‘yung athleticism nila. Naturally, naging intense ‘yung labanan, but at the end of it all, nakita talaga ‘yung teamwork, ‘yung hunger ng Taguig Generals para maiuwi sa lungsod ng Taguig ang pang-limang championship title.”

She also thanked National Basketball League:

“My heartfelt appreciation also to the dedication of the men and women behind NBL. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat, walang duda nagbibigay kayo ng kasiyahan sa mga kababayan natin.”

Taguig City has earned a Galing Pook Award for its innovative and impactful breast cancer control program, Ating Dibdibin. This award celebrates local government innovations that make a positive impact on communities.

Out of the 147 entries from 111 local governments, Taguig was chosen as one of the 18 finalists and emerged as one of the 10 winners for the Galing Pook Awards 2024.

Ating Dibdibin, established in partnership with the ICanServe Foundation in 2012, is a community-based initiative focused on early detection and treatment of breast cancer. It has been institutionalized through local ordinances and employs a patient navigation system, which has become a model for other local government units.

With trained barangay health workers acting as patient navigators, the program ensures that breast cancer patients receive guided support throughout the healthcare continuum, including free diagnostic services, treatment, and psycho-social support.

“We believe every breast cancer patient deserves a second chance at life. Every home deserves a happy, healthy mother, sister, or daughter. We continue to intensify our efforts to keep families together. Ating Dibdibin ang laban sa breast cancer,” Mayor Lani said in her presentation before the Galing Pook 2024 judges on Wednesday, October 23.

The program has achieved remarkable milestones:

- It has helped increase Taguig’s breast cancer screening rate to 8.48%, nearly quadrupling the national average of 2.3%.

- ⁠It has contributed to a significant reduction in breast cancer mortality in the city, cutting the rate to 17%, compared to the national average of 36%.

- ⁠The mortality reduction is attributed to early detection, community support, and patient-centered healthcare services provided by Taguig.

Taguig’s success was judged on several criteria, including positive results, people’s participation, innovation, and sustainability.

“The City of Taguig remains committed to providing the best. We will soon open a bigger breast cancer center to accommodate more patients. We will upgrade equipment, continue to provide quality cancer care, and provide a more holistic survivorship and supportive care for patients,” said Mayor Lani.

The Galing Pook Awards, launched on October 21, 1993, is an initiative promoting innovation and excellence in local governance. Jointly initiated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the DILG Local Government Academy (LGA), the Ford Foundation, academic institutions, and governance advocates, the awards incentivize innovation and community participation in local government initiatives.

His Excellency Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore, visited Taguig City as part of his State Visit to the Philippines to reinforce bilateral relations focusing on sustainability, healthcare, and economic collaboration.

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano and Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano warmly welcomed President Tharman and his spouse Mrs. Jane Shanmugaratnam, and his delegation of key officials including Members of Parliament Mr. Henry Kwek and Ms. Mariam Jaafar, and Ambassador Constance See, Singapore's Ambassador to the Philippines.

In his remarks during a ceremony held at Taguig’s SM Aura Office Tower in BGC, Fort Bonifacio, President Tharman underscored the importance of investing in maternal health and early childhood development, particularly during the first two years of life.

He pointed out that it is the collective responsibility of parents, communities, and the medical community to ensure that all children, particularly those who are at risk of developmental issues, are given the best start in life.

“I’m so happy that we are doing this together. The good comes in the doing, not just in policymaking, not just in having a strong enunciation about the importance of this intervention. The good comes in the doing. And that requires partnership. It requires committed partnerships, in your case, the Mayor and the team in Taguig City, KK Women's and Children's Hospital, who has the experts, Temasek Foundation, who is helping to make this possible and everyone else who’s involved,” President Tharman said.

Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano proudly shared the initiatives already undertaken by the City to improve healthcare, adding that the agreements entered into are not just formalities but “powerful symbols of our shared dedication to advancing maternal and child health in the Philippines.”

She affirmed Taguig's vision of being a Transformative, Lively, and Caring City, and how this partnership with Singapore aligns with that vision:

“As we embark on this journey, you can be assured that Taguig will approach this partnership with the same dedication and determination that have defined our progress over the years. We are always committed when it comes to opportunities that can elevate the standard of living for our people.”

The visit also included a presentation on the ongoing Maternal and Child Health collaboration between Taguig City and Singapore's Temasek Foundation and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. This collaboration seeks to improve healthcare services and infrastructure in Taguig, particularly in maternal and child health.

Earlier on Friday, the City of Taguig signed two major healthcare agreements intended to enhance maternal and child health services and expand access to underserved communities.

The first initiative, a Public-Private-Philanthropic Partnership led by CareSpan Asia Inc. and Temasek Foundation, is set to provide primary healthcare access to 350,000 underserved residents of Taguig through an advanced Digital Health care platform.

The second initiative, in collaboration with the SingHealth Duke-NUS Maternal and Child Health Research Institute (MCHRI), focuses on improving key health indicators, infrastructure planning, and capacity building in Taguig’s maternal and child health facilities.

The City of Taguig started the celebration of its 437th Founding Anniversary on April 25 with a Thanksgiving Mass at the Minor Basilica and Archdiocesan Shrine Parish of St. Anne in Brgy. Sta. Ana.

The Mass was an opportunity for the city’s residents to give thanks for the blessings received over the years. Father Bernie Carpio, during the homily, urged attendees to reflect on Taguig's history and the resilience of its people. He emphasized gratitude for the city’s development and the strong community spirit that defines Taguig.

In celebration of World Tuberculosis Day on March 24, the City of Taguig, through the City Health Office and in partnership with TBpeople Philippines Organization Inc., conducted a seminar to raise public awareness about tuberculosis.

Held at the New City Hall Convention Center, the event showcased this year’s theme “Tuloy and Bayanihan, TB ay Tuldukan," emphasizing  the need for collective action to eradicate the disease by 2030.

More than 200 participants composed of Barangay Chairpersons, SK Chairpersons, Barangay Laboratory Aides, and TB survivors, attended and gained valuable insights on how to manage TB and  become advocates for TB awareness and prevention within their communities.

The seminar introduced the Discipleship Program, conceptualized by TBpeople Philippines, aimed at further strengthening the city’s initiative in empowering TB survivors by providing them with the necessary skills, resources, and support to navigate life after diagnosis.

In addition, a lecture about wellness was held, providing participants with holistic approaches to wellness and emphasizing the importance of physical, mental, and emotional well-being in combating TB and promoting overall health.

Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano graced the event and extended her full support to the program.

Mayor Lani Cayetano initiated to teach kids the power of self-affirmation in fostering self-esteem as she visited three Child Development Centers in Taguig.

The centers, located in Barangays Sta. Ana, Hagonoy, and Bagumbayan, echoed with the affirmations "I Am Unique, I Am Loved, I Am Kind, and I Am Proud of Who I Am," nourishing confidence and self-assurance in the children.

Mayor Lani is a firm believer that consistent repetition of these positive messages builds confidence in these young learners, empowering them to face challenges and try new things. 

“Napakahalaga sa mga bata na ‘yung mga estudyante natin ganito pa lang ka mura ang edad nila ay naiintindihan na nila na naniniwala sa kanila at sinusuportahan sila ng mga taong nakapaligid sa kanila,” Mayor Lani said as she addressed the parents present during the activity.

She also stressed the importance of proper hygiene, encouraging handwashing and cleanliness.

The visit included fun art and learning activities, with Mayor Lani actively participating alongside the children. Nutritious snacks were distributed to the daycare learners to support healthy child development.

Si Laguitan ay naglingkod bilang sundalo sa United States Army Forces in the Far East (USAFFE) at matapang na lumaban sa mga dayuhang mananakop noong World War II.

Bukod sa pagiging isang inspirasyon, nagsilbi rin siyang Post Commander ng 17th Taguig-Pateros Veterans District hanggang sa kanyang pagpanaw noong Marso 2, 2024, sa edad na 100. Siya ay isa sa huling dalawang beterano ng digmaan sa Taguig.

Noong Pebrero 23, 2021, pinarangalan siya at apat pang beterano ng Gawad Pagkilala ng Taguig Heritage Society at Taguig Veterans Affairs Office.

More than 200 residents from various barangays in Taguig participated in the City’s Kilatis Kutis Medical Campaign held on February 28 at Lakeshore Hall.

Initiated by the Taguig City Health Office as part of the celebration of Leprosy Control Week, the event offered free skin consultations and examinations to help detect leprosy and start treatment early, reducing the disease's effects and stopping it from spreading in the community.

Dr. Alyanna Dela Cruz from Rizal Medical Center’s Department of Dermatology gave her lecture on Basic Skin Care.

Participants received skin care products, medicines, and vitamins to improve their skin health.

Norelyn Ricafranca and her daughter, Shaina, from Brgy. North Signal, thanked the local government for the program.

"Salamat po kay Mayor Lani at sa programang ito. Naging malaking tulong po ito sa amin dahil nakalibre po kami sa check-up at nagkaroon ng linaw sa kung ano ba ang [sakit] sa balat ng anak ko," said Ricafranca.

The campaign also offered free HIV and Hepatitis B screenings and pneumonia vaccinations.

The City extends its gratitude to the RMC Department of Dermatology for their commitment to and involvement in this campaign.

To promote dental health among young members of the community, the City of Taguig, through its Health Office, launched the Kick-off Ceremony of Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) Treatment on February 21 at the Taguig Lakeshore Hall. 

Around 150 daycare children from various parts of the City received SDF treatments to help stop or slow down tooth decay. SDF is known for its effectiveness in preventing and treating cavities.

During the event, 30 children were also honored as Orally Fit Children for their excellent dental health.

Mayor Lani Cayetano attended and  highlighted the City's role in supporting the community's oral health, thanking the dedicated dentists and dental aides.

“Ginagampanan po ng City Government of Taguig ang papel namin na maging kaagapay po ninyo. In the City of Taguig, we take pride in taking oral health seriously. At nagiging possible po ito dahil tayo ay tinutulungan ng mga ever-passionate and dedicated dentists kasama na ang mga dental aides na naririto ngayon,” Mayor Lani said.

Mrs. Kristine Siaron from Brgy. Pitogo, and her daughter Fineena, who received an SDF application, expressed their appreciation for the program.

“I’m very happy kasi mayroong mga dental benefits na ganito, at nakita po namin ang concern ni Mayora doon sa physical and oral health ng mga bata, so, grateful kami,” Mrs. Siaron noted.

To make the event fun for kids, there was a puppet show and a mascot, making dental care both enjoyable and memorable for the young attendees.

Taguig City's dental practitioners gathered at the Lakeshore Activity Center on February 13 for a Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) Training Workshop organized by the City Health Office to improve dental treatment effectiveness.

The event, aligned with National Oral Health Month 2024, gathered 70 dental practitioners who learned more about SDF applications in pediatric and geriatric dental care. SDF is recognized for preventing and treating dental caries.

The workshop covered proper SDF application, including essential techniques and teeth restoration procedures. It also included hands-on training to boost dentists' proficiency in using SDF for various dental conditions.

Committee on Health Chair Coun. Rodil “Tikboy” Marcelino attended the event on behalf of Mayor Lani Cayetano and expressed the city’s full support to the program. He acknowledged the significance of SDF in addressing dental issues in children, praising the expertise of local dentists.

This initiative underscores Taguig's dedication to oral health awareness and preventive measures, contributing to the overall well-being of its residents.

Aiming to foster a culture of love and self-empowerment among the youth, the City of Taguig hosted the "To Love and Be Loved" seminar on February 8 at Lakeshore Hall in Barangay Lower Bicutan.

A collaboration of Taguig CARES (Community Awareness towards Resilient and Empowered Students) and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) with World Vision Philippines, the event brought together 122 Supreme Students Learners Government (SSLG) participants from various public schools in Taguig.

The seminar featured interactive workshops focusing on positive relationships, effective communication, values, empathy, and mutual respect. Additionally, it addressed Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC), emphasizing the role of love in creating a safe online environment and promoting responsible Internet usage.

Filipino artists and celebrities such as Perkins Twins, singer and rapper Quest, and TV personality Joyce Pring-Trivino, delivered inspirational talks on themes of love, self-love, and faith. The event also included a question-and-answer session, allowing students to directly engage with the celebrities and gain valuable insights from their experiences.

Mayor Lani Cayetano, who graced the event, expressed her personal commitment to the program.

“This project is not just a mere fulfillment of my responsibility as a government official. Personal sa akin ‘yung programang ito. I want your future to be successful, to be comfortable, and to be bright. And very clear sa akin as the Mayor of the City na ang role namin ay ang masiguro na may mga programa in place, para maproteksyunan kayo at maturuan kayo sa landas na dapat tahakin ninyo,” Mayor Lani said.

Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano marks a significant milestone as the City unveiled the pioneering LGU-operated Disability Resource and Development Center in the nation, emphasizing her unwavering dedication to inclusivity and empowerment for persons with disabilities.

Launched on January 9 in Brgy. North Signal, the six-storey facility emerges as an important hub for information dissemination, program and policy development, and capacity building, catering to all disability stakeholders in Taguig City.

Mayor Lani graced the event and expressed her love and support for this sector.

“Patunay na sa Taguig hindi lang natin basta sinasabi na mahal natin ang mga Persons with Disability, kundi may kaakibat na aksyon at kaakibat na programa. Dalangin ko po na ang pasilidad na ito ay magdulot ng ginhawa at kagalingan sa mga taong makikinabang. Inaalay po natin ito para sa sektor na malapit sa aking puso at higit sa lahat, for the greater glory of our Lord,” said Mayor Lani.

The Center offers Speech Therapy as part of its comprehensive range of free services, alongside Adult and Pediatric Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and consultations with a rehabilitation medical doctor and developmental pediatrician. The Center also facilitates the application, processing, and issuance of PWD IDs and hosts free livelihood and developmental training programs.

Designed as a state-of-the-art facility, the Center is the new home for the Persons with Disability Affairs Office and the Philippine Registry for Persons with Disability Services. It features various specialized rooms, including therapy rooms, consultation rooms, a multi-sensory integration room, training rooms, conference rooms, and even pantries. The building also houses an E-library accessible to all Taguigueño residents, serving as a valuable learning and research hub.

Focused on creating a Transformative, Lively, and Caring City, the local government continues to introduce initiatives that enhance the well-being and quality of life of all residents, including those with disabilities.

The City of Taguig extends its heartfelt gratitude to Senator Jinggoy Estrada, who allocated P10 million to provide financial support to Taguiguenos who are suffering from illnesses such as cancer, dialysis, and those in need of surgery or therapy.  

Around 1,300 Taguigueño patients received cash assistance during the distribution ceremony held at Dueñas Gymnasium in Brgy. Central Signal Village on December 19.

Mayor Lani Cayetano highlighted Senator Jinggoy's generous assistance to those in need.

“Marami po ang mga taong tumutulong sa atin, nagpapaabot ng pagmamahal sa ating lahat. Sa lahat ng pagkakataon, ipapanalangin po natin na gabayan ng Panginoon si Senator Jinggoy sa paglilingkod nya sa Senado. Marami po ang mga natutulungan ang kanyang tanggapan, at hindi niya ipinagkait ‘yan dito sa City of Taguig. Kaya sana po tatandaan natin itong napakahalagang tulong na ibinigay niya sa atin,” added Mayor Lani.

Senator Jinggoy assured that his office would continue providing financial support to Taguig.

“Hindi po ito ang unang beses na pagpunta ko rito. Sa susunod na taon uulit-ulitin ko ang pagtulong dito sa lungsod ng Taguig. Habang punong-lungsod si Mayor Lani, taun-taon po akong magbibigay ng tulong dito sa Taguig,” the senator said.

More than 1,500 Barangay Security Force (BSF) or Barangay Tanods from Districts 1 and 2 also received cash assistance as a demonstration of gratitude and recognition for their tireless efforts to keep the communities safe.

To further strengthen its commitment to serve children and inspire positive change, the City of Taguig, led by Mayor Lani Cayetano, actively participated in the culmination of the celebration of "Bata, Bida Ka," the 31st National Children’s Month, on Tuesday, November 28, at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premiere.

This year's theme, "Healthy, Nourished, Sheltered: Ensuring the Right to Life for All," highlighted children's rights to good healthcare and nutrition.

Organized by the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), in collaboration with various partners, including the City Government of Taguig, the event celebrated the success of the month-long National Children’s Month, promoting awareness of children's universal rights and encouraging participation in child protection.

The event's main attraction was a showcase of talents from children and students across different cities, providing a platform for them to bond and enjoy.

The 2023 Taguig Jazz Chant winners, students from Silangan Elementary School, impressed the audience with their acting, singing, and dancing skills during the event.

Mayor Lani Cayetano graced the event along with notable guests including Vice President and DepEd Secretary Hon. Sara Duterte, Council for the Welfare of Children Usec. Angelo Tapales, SM Supermalls Program Director Mr. Royston Cabunag, and DSWD Assistant Secretary for Internal Affairs Asec. Elaine Fallarcuna.

The City of Taguig, through the Taguig City Health Office, actively participated in the observance of the World Diabetes Day by raising awareness about the disease and promoting access to healthcare services in an event held on, November 22, at Lakeshore Hall.

A total of 337 diabetic and hypertensive individuals from different barangays participated in the event with this year’s theme "Access to Diabetes Care: Know Your Risk, Know Your Response."

The participants learned how to manage medical conditions like diabetes and listened to informative lectures on Nephropathy, Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) as complication of diabetes, as well as Diabetic Foot Care.

The City Health Office offered free medical services including ECG, Integrated NCD (Non-Communicable Disease) Risk Assessment, Random Blood Sugar and Cholesterol Screening, Micral Test for Chronic Kidney Disease Screening, Nutrition Counseling, Cervical Cancer Screening Program, Breast Cancer Screening Program, Chest X-ray, and TB Screening.

Additionally, flu vaccines were made available to further enhance preventive healthcare measures.

Attendees also received loot bags containing essential items such as lotion, socks, vitamin B complex, and a selection of healthy foods, including fruits and vegetables to further support their well-being.

Mayor Lani Cayetano attended the event and emphasized the significance of raising awareness about the disease.

“Walang sayang sa oras na ginugol nyo dito, anuman pong mga programa ng pamahalaan na nagbibigay kaalaman sa inyo, mahalagang bagay po iyon. At sana ang kaalaman pong ito ay ‘wag niyong sarilinin lamang, pag-uwi sa tahanan ninyo ipasa agad sa inyong family members. …Kaya kailangan ipakalat po natin ang kaalaman,” Mayor Lani said.

Sa isang makasaysayang okasyon, kabilang ang Barangay Lower Bicutan sa dalawang barangay sa Pilipinas na ginawaran ng Selyo ng Kahusayan sa Serbisyo Publiko. Iginawad ang prestihiyosong pagkilala na ito ng Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino sa isinagawang seremonya noong Agosto 30, 2023, sa Metropolitan Theater sa Maynila.

Ipinagkaloob ang parangal sa Barangay Lower Bicutan bilang pagkilala sa kanilang magiting na paggamit ng wikang Filipino sa opisyal na mga dokumento, korespondensya opisyal, mga anunsyo, opisyal na mga pormularyo, at iba pang uri ng komunikasyon. Ang temang ginamit sa programa ay "Filipino para sa Epektibong Serbisyo Publiko."

Ang parangal ay tinanggap sa pangunguna ni Barangay Captain Roel O. Pacayra, kasama sina City Executive Legal Office Head at Lupon ng Wikang Filipino Chairman Atty. Jun Fallar, mga miyembro ng Lupon ng Wikang Filipino na sina G. Henry Vega at Atty. Alen Fred Hilario, gayundin ang mga piling kawani ng barangay na bumubuo ng kanilang Lupon sa Wika ng Filipino.

Kinilala naman si Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayatano noong 2015 bilang "Kampeon ng Wika," sa pagkakaroon ng puspusan at may masigasig na paggamit ng wikang Filipino bilang opisyal na komunikasyon. Kasama rito ang paggamit ng Filipino sa mga papeles, mga pampublikong anunsiyo, mga espesyal na utos, mga resolusyon ng Sangguniang Panglungsod, at pati na rin sa mga social media.

Noong ika-31 ng Agosto, 2023, sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa, itinanghal ang lungsod ng Taguig bilang "Hall of Fame" para sa Selyo ng Kahusayan sa Serbisyo Publiko dahil sa patuloy na pagsunod sa mga pamantayan na itinakda ng Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino.

The Taguig City Government congratulates its local police force Taguig City Police Station for having been adjudged the "best in anti-illegal drug operations" in Metro Manila.

The recognition was given by the National Capital Region Police Office during the 122nd Police Service Anniversary held in Camp Bagong Diwa in Brgy. Lower Bicutan last August 10, 2023.

The award highlights the unwavering dedication of the city's police force in eradicating illegal drug activities within the community.

With their help, the City has achieved significant security milestones, primary of which was the declaration of 10 barangays as drug-cleared by the Regional Oversight Committee (ROC) on Dangerous Drugs.

These barangays are: San Miguel, Katuparan, Bambang, Calzada-Tipas, South Daang Hari, Central Signal, Ligid-Tipas, Sta. Ana, Fort Bonifacio, and South Signal.

From January to August 2023, Taguig City Police yielded impressive results from its intensified anti-criminality operations focusing on combatting illegal drug activities, resulting to the arrest of a total of 1,168 individuals on 757 drug-related operations conducted.

Also seized during those operations were 2,877.19 grams of shabu and 3,444.03 grams of marijuana with a combined estimated street value exceeding P20 million.

"Through these relentless efforts, the Taguig City Police has shown it continues to play a pivotal role in ensuring Taguigeños remain safe, one of the thrusts of my administration," Mayor Lani Cayetano said.

Taguig City Police Chief PCOL Robert R. Baesa assures that the local police is committed to ensuring the well-being of every citizen by maintaining the highest standards of law enforcement and community engagement.

"This recognition serves as a reminder that with unity, we can make a difference and create a safer and drug-free environment for everyone," Baesa added.

A total of 690 Day Care Children from various Child Development Centers across Taguig received well-deserved recognition as "Mga Batang May Karangalan" (Children with Honor) in a heartwarming ceremony held at the Taguig City University Auditorium, today, August 22, 2023.

Led by the City Social Welfare and Development Office and the Local School Board, the event recognized young achievers in their successful completion of Levels 1 and 2 of the Taguig Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Program.

Parents and guardians beamed with pride and joy as their children were presented with certificates of recognition for their hard work and commitment.

Under the leadership of Mayor Lani Cayetano, the City of Taguig continues to stand as a Transformative, Lively, and Caring City, committed to providing free and quality education to its students. This initiative goes beyond ensuring quality learning experiences, and includes vital support in the form of basic school supplies, uniforms, and essential learning materials.

Mayor Lani graced the ceremony and shared an inspiring message with the graduates, parents, and Day Care workers.

"Sila po ang greatest asset ng City of Taguig. Pinakatangi at pinakamahalagang yaman ng ating lungsod. We owe it to them, to work together to make sure that all the dreams and aspirations that they have, as litlle learners will all be possible," Mayor Lani said.

Also present at the ceremony were Vice Mayor Arvin Alit, District 1 Representative Cong. Ricardo "Ading" Cruz Jr., CSWDO Head Nikki Operario, Local School Board Head Natividad Jimenez Ed. D., Taguig Scholarship Office Head Rene Lopos, and councilors from Districts 1 & 2.

"We dedicate the lives of our young learners to the Lord, as we work hard, hand in hand po, magkatuwang po tayo para sa magandang kinabukasan ng kabataang Taguigueño," Mayor Lani added.

The City of Taguig celebrated the graduation of 32 student-residents from Bahay Pag-asa Taguig, who demonstrated resilience in the face of unique challenges. The Alternative Learning System (ALS) Graduation and Completion ceremony took place on August 10 at the Bahay Pag-asa grounds in Brgy. Wawa.

This event marked the successful completion of the efforts of all student-residents: seven of whom finished elementary education, while 25 completed Junior High School.

It also highlighted how education can change lives and offer young people a second chance. Their success showcased not only their school achievements but also their personal growth.

Bahay Pag-asa Taguig was created as a temporary home to help troubled youth, including those in conflict with the law. Following Mayor Lani Cayetano's Caring City Agenda, this creates a supportive space where these individuals can find hope and a positive path.

As part of Bahay Pag-asa's programs, the institution offers a Basic Education Program through the Alternative Learning System. This ensures that children can keep learning even when they're away from their families and regular schools.

Mayor Lani Cayetano attended the ceremony to personally congratulate the graduates and completers.

“I’m so happy na makita kayong lahat proudly wearing your toga and sablay. Iyan ay produkto ng pinaghirapan ninyo, at sana huwag kayong hihinto diyan... And we are here to provide the assistance needed para makapagpatuloy kayo sa pag-aaral ninyo,” Mayor Lani said.

The event was also attended by Committee on Children and Family Affairs Chair Coun. Marisse Balina-Eron, CSWDO Head Nikki Operario, Education Program Supervisor Dr. Daisy Mataac, and Public School District Supervisor Bernadette Bautista.

With the aim of improving community safety, the City of Taguig, through its City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO), took the lead in organizing a comprehensive 2-day Basic Life Support (BLS) Training for Lay Rescuers from August 9 to 10, 2023.

Conducted at the newly opened Taguig Center for Disaster Management in Brgy. Central Signal, this BLS training drew participation from 57 dedicated Bahay Pag-asa personnel and City Health Office staff.

During the training sessions, crucial topics were covered, including the essential principles of emergency care and initial steps for managing critical situations.

The training covered various BLS aspects, from Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques to using Automated External Defibrillators (AED) for quick response.

The curriculum also provided guidance on addressing scenarios like Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO) and mastering both adult and infant BLS techniques.

Participants did not just learn theory; they also underwent rigorous practical assessments, enhancing their confidence and effectiveness in real-life situations.

Sa pangalawa at pangatlong araw ng pamamahagi ng Taguig City University-City Educational Assistance Allowance (TCU-CEAA), nakatanggap ang mahigit 5,100 estudyante ng TCU ng P15,000 hanggang P20,000 bilang allowance at karagdagang merit incentive para sa mga matataas ang marka sa loob ng dalawang semestre.

Ang allowance na ibinigay sa mga estudyante ay bahagi ng komprehensibong scholarship program ng Probinsyudad sa ilalim ng Transformative City agenda ni Mayor Lani Cayetano.

Sa kaniyang pagdalo sa pagtitipon, personal na ipinarating ni Mayor Lani ang kaniyang buong-pusong pagsuporta sa edukasyon ng mga mag-aaral at hinimok ang mga ito na mas pagbutihin pa ang kanilang pag-aaral nang sa gayon ay maabot nila ang kanilang mga mithiin sa buhay.

"Because in Taguig, we recognize that the greatest asset, the greatest resource of our city ay hindi 'yong pera, hindi ang mga imprastraktura, kayo [Taguigueñong mag-aaral] ang greatest asset namin kaya kami nag-iinvest sa inyo,” ayon kay Mayor Lani.

Sa kasalukuyan, higit sa 80,000 na Taguigueño scholars na ang natulungan ng malawakang scholarship program na inilunsad sa ilalim ng administrasyon ni Mayor Lani.

“Kaya ang ginagawa natin, programang makakapagpaunlad ng kakayahan ninyo kasi ayaw nating palampasin ang oportunidad na makuha ninyo ang edukasyon para pag nagtrabaho kayo, makuha niyo rin ang mga trabaho na available sa city natin,” dagdag pa ni Mayor Lani.

Kabilang din sa mga dumalo at naghatid ng kanilang mensahe sa mga mag-aaral sina Vice Mayor Arvin Ian Alit, Committee on Education Chair Konsehal Marisse Balina-Eron, at mga konsehal ng una at pangalawang distrito ng lungsod.

In line with Mayor Lani Cayetano's Caring City agenda, the Taguig City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) joined forces with the Office of the City Veterinarian to conduct a specialized Canine CPR and First Aid Training on Friday, August 4.

Hosted at the newly inaugurated Taguig Center for Disaster Management in Brgy. Central Signal, the training aimed to strengthen the City's readiness and response capabilities during animal-related emergencies.

Collaborating with the All-Breed Association Philippines K9 Inc. (ABAPK9), the training brought together 35 dedicated individuals from the Taguig City DRRMO, City Health Office, and the Office of the City Veterinarian.

During the sessions, participants were immersed in fundamental first-aid principles for dog rescue, and they received essential guidance on handling wounds, fractures, injuries, and other canine-related medical situations.

Effective techniques for managing critical situations, including heatstroke and poisoning cases, were also demonstrated to equip attendees with the necessary skills to respond promptly and efficiently during emergencies like drowning, choking, and animal fights.

Beyond first-aid, participants were lectured on proper dog grooming practices and preventive measures against common issues such as ticks and fleas.

Hosted by ITE Central (Institute of Technical Education Singapore) from July 27-30, 2023, the event showcased the mathematical brilliance of three achievers from our very own Senator Renato Compañero Cayetano Memorial Science and Technology High School.

Leading the pack, Kalel Elijah A. Lontok emerged as the overall champion in the Grade 7 Level category, securing a well-deserved gold medal. Kalel is all set to showcase his brilliance once more in Thailand on Aug. 11, 2023.

In addition to Kalel's success, Grade 10 student Stephanie Kyla P. Malazarte earned a bronze medal, while Elaiza Mae M. Ojo, also in Grade 10, received a merit award, both demonstrating their comprehensive understanding of mathematical principles.

These exceptional students have significantly contributed to the Philippines' remarkable haul of 42 medals, proving that our country can compete in the field of mathematics.

Kraven the Hunter, the iconic Spider-Man villain Sergei Kravinoff, is set to make his mark in the highly-anticipated R-rated solo movie with Aaron Taylor-Johnson stepping into the sinister role.

The first trailer was introduced as a sneak peek at CinemaCon back in April. Now, Sony Pictures has responded by officially releasing an extended red-band trailer, treating audiences to an extra dose of violence showing an intense moment where Kraven goes as far as biting off a man’s nose and spitting it at the camera, leaving viewers gasping in shock.

Kraven the Hunter made his debut in The Amazing Spider-Man issue #15 as one of Spider-Man’s most formidable foes. Warner Bros. China is currently facing allegations of compensating critics and influential social-media persons to obtain early favorable reviews, according to a prominent Chinese journalist.

The Flash premiered in China on June 16 under Warner Bros. Pictures. However, it has triggered scrutiny regarding the authenticity of its positive reviews. They raised doubts among possible viewers who questioned the credibility of the early acclaim. Furthermore, it has created a sense of skepticism surrounding the Ezra Miller movie’s reception.

This controversy has sparked a significant backlash and as a result, moviegoers expressed their reluctance to purchase tickets during The Flash’s opening weekend, feeling a sense of deception due to the initial praise. These doubts led to a decline in ticket sales as audiences believed they had been misled by the seemingly exaggerated reception.

In a tweet posted by Chinese box office analyst Gavin Feng, a significant number of individuals have lost faith in the rave reviews and reactions pertaining to Warner Bros. movies.

He further highlighted the lack of a well-established critic system in China and emphasized that local distributors have strict control over critics, including popular ticketing platforms such as Maoyan and Taopiaopiao, which are owned by the same parent companies involved in film distribution.

As a result, critics find it challenging to provide genuine negative reviews if they have already viewed the movies before their official release.

Despite the controversy, The Flash has not been deemed a box-office failure in China. Statistics show that The Flash has received a respectable score of 8.0/10 on the Douban website, demonstrating that this Warner Bros. production is still delivering on its promise to entertain and satisfy fans.

But then again, it is a slow start in China much like it did in North America in terms of ticket sales according, to The Hollywood Reporter.

So did Warner Bros. China engage in some form of payola?

In the U.S., The Flash ran out of advanced screenings with widespread praise. In fact, it was being hailed as one of the greatest superhero films ever created. But the movie dropped a 66% among the critics surveyed on Rotten Tomatoes. That’s enough to give a “certified fresh” to Warner Bros. minus any under-the-table dealings.

Many U.S. film critics have responded favorably to the movie, recognizing its quality and appeal.

Moreover, it acquired an impressive 85% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes. Oddly enough, that’s in direct contrast to its B grade on CinemaScore. Certainly, that’s not what Warner Bros. Discovery would be pleased with for such a high-priced project. A B is the kiss of death at the box office.

This positive audience response suggests that despite the skepticism surrounding reviews, moviegoers are finding enjoyment and fulfillment in Warner Bros.’ The Flash, contributing to its overall success at the box office.

And the fact that The Flash has opened the door to potential DC multiverse, there are fans who are excited for the thrilling new stories that the new DC Studios has to offer. Nonetheless, DC movies still polarize followers with a number remaining bitter of how Warner Bros. treated director Zack Snyder. That is surely among the reasons why The Flash tanked in America, and bogus recommendations couldn’t save it.

Gal Gadot shared her excitement about doing personal stories James Gunn‘s DC Studios cancelled Wonder Woman 3 in a recent interview with Total Film Magazine.

Gal Gadot’s abrupt departure from her iconic superhero role as Wonder Woman seems imminent as she emphasized her intention to pursue diverse projects beyond the realm of superheroes. While it may be heartbreaking for fans to see her go, Gal Gadot expressed her happiness for the opportunity to explore a wider range of roles and stories that ignite her passion.

She said:

”To me, starting and developing stories that I’m passionate about is an incredible thing. The fact that I don’t have to sit still at home and just wait for the next offer is something that makes me feel empowered. I enjoy doing it, it keeps me alive.”

Gal Gadot’s portrayal of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman is loved by audiences worldwide, propelling her into the spotlight. Her Wonder Woman film in 2017, directed by Patty Jenkins, achieved tremendous success, grossing an impressive $822 million globally and receiving critical acclaim.

Unfortunately, the highly anticipated sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, faced a contradictory response due to its lackluster story and other challenges. Despite initial plans for a third installment, DC made the decision to cancel Wonder Woman 3. Reports circulated that Jenkins, who directed the previous films, departed from the project due to script issues. 

On the contrary, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that DC Studios co-CEOs Gunn and Peter Safran quickly put a stop on the movie for their reboot.

Nevertheless, Wonder Woman will continue albeit with a different actress. DC Studios is developing Paradise Lost, which is set to explore the Amazonians and the power struggles in Themyscira before Princess Diana’s birth. No release date has been announced.

By having it set so far in the past, they don’t have to replace Gadot yet. Thus, there will be time for fans to heal.

Insiders told Geekosity that Marvel Studios will only cast a Visayan actress for Wave. On September 4, 2021, Geekosity founder Mikey Sutton scooped that Wave was headed for the MCU.

Alan Moore showed interest on coming back to Marvel Comics in the early 2000s in a surprising reveal by Marvel Executive Editor and Senior VP Tom Brevoort. The Watchmen legend has been heavily critical of superhero comic books after his bitter experiences with DC Comics in the late ’80s. Nevertheless, he could’ve written an Ant-Man story for Marvel Comics.

Brevoort explained:

"I did later make an attempt to convince Alan to write FANTASTIC FOUR, unsuccessfully—he did have an interest in doing ANT-MAN, though I was never quite certain whether we could sell it in sufficient quantities to make it worth pursuing, and it never came together in any event. But I bet his Ant-Man would have been mind-blowing."

By that time Ant-Man wasn’t as popular amongst the general public, not until he became widely popularized by movies. This may be one factor Marvel Comics turned down the offer. Whatever the reason, it’s a massive loss.

Brevoort worked together with Alan Moore on the Heroes graphic novel, a landmark project created for charity in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks where he pursued Moore into writing for Marvel again. But Alan Moore seems to be immovable by his decision despite showing interest in writing Ant-Man.

Though Alan Moore has turned his back on superhero comic books, this revelation from Brevoort made fans linger in their imagination of how Ant-Man would’ve been if it was written by him.

According to Alan Moore, the reason for his dissatisfaction with the current comics industry is the age demographic. He also believes that the targeted age group for comic books shifted, with adult readers replacing the original pre-teen audience.

Moore contributed to Marvel UK, the renowned comic book publisher’s British subsidiary, in the early 1980s. In this position, Moore created the well-known vigilante Night Raven and began a noteworthy collaboration with Captain Britain, which was essential in laying the groundwork for the Marvel multiverse.

Moore’s involvement with Marvel was limited to his work for Marvel UK and a brief appearance in the 1985 book Heroes for Hope.

Considering his retirement from the comic book industry and his previous criticisms of superheroes, it is unlikely that Moore will return to Marvel for future projects.

Nevertheless, Moore’s contributions to comics, including Watchmen, V for Vendetta, and Batman: The Killing Joke have garnered widespread acclaim, establishing him as a highly-esteemed and accomplished comic-book writer.

While the prospect of another superhero comic by Moore may seem unlikely, fans can still hold onto hope that there might be a chance, even if it is just a single issue, to satisfy their enthusiasm and admiration for Moore’s exceptional creations.
