Here I am attaching the side pieces which are 2x2’s to the legs of the table. I did this by going straight into the legs through the side pieces. These holes would later be covered up with wood plugs.
I added a board across the table for support when I add the tabletop to the frame
I attached the boards that made up the tabletop by flipping the table upside down.
I drilled two screws in each board to make sure it was fully secure
Here I drilled holes using a drill bit. After I made two holes in each corner, I used a hammer to tap wood plugs into place.
Here I sanded the whole table.
I used a manual hand sander and for the sides I just used sandpaper.
I used wood conditioner on the whole table to prepare it for staining.
This was not a very difficult process because it was a short drying time and was a very easy application.
Here I stained the side crosses of the table with a brush.
Here I wiped off the stain with a rag after letting it sit for a few minutes.
I stained the side pieces with a paintbrush.
This is another picture of me staining the side pieces.
After staining I sealed it with a polyurethane sealant so it would give the table a glossy finish.
The polyurethane was a little more difficult to apply than the conditioner because it was thicker.
To finish the table, I added corner brackets for decoration to add to the rustic look of the table.
