About Us
Many people have asked me why I have this compulsion to spend hours at the historical library looking for track stats and then hours in front of the computer mindlessly typing away. It started in 1987 when I was asked to become the RI state meet director for boys' cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. I asked the RIIL office for a list of past state cross country champions and was told that no such records were keep on file. So I took it upon myself to start that list. Since that time I included both indoor and outdoor season, then Alice Sullivan asked me to coordinate her files on girls events. With the help of many administrators like Alice Sullivan, Jane Headley, and Charley Sweeney and coaches like Tom Kenwood, Jim Doyle, Norm Bouthillier, and others, I have amassed an incredible amount stuff, nominally referred to as "truly worthless trivia". But people seem to like my stats and I want to share them with more people in the track community. I hope you enjoy this labor.
Of course, my files will never be 100% finished but if you have a way of helping fill in the missing information, I more than welcome the input. If you have:
Any missing information
Any corrections Please include any documentation so the information can be verified.
Any spelling corrections or missing first names.
Any additional notes, pictures, clippings that should be included.
Please fell free to forward those to me. I have been involved in the RI track community for over 42 years and have shared time with many amazing people. I hope the efforts on this website will be a positive influence for a lot of people.
Thanks,
Keith Lawton
