Parents are respectfully requested to impress upon your young, new driver the importance of being present - physically and mentally - in class and to interact with the instructor with the end goal being totally prepared to meet the requirements of North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles for the Learner's Permit and eventually the NC Driver's License. This also includes putting away phones, ear buds, smart watches and any other distractions except when requested of the instructor for quizzes or other interactive periods during classroom hours. Additionally, students will be guided to put phones on silent and place in a console when driving instruction is taking place. This is in accordance with NC General Statute 20-137.3 - ie., the use of mobile phones for persons under the age of 18 is unlawful for any technological use while behind the wheel of a moving vehicle.
Students are requested to come to class ready to learn, interact with the instructor, make efforts to learn the material and prepare themselves for success as a new North Carolina driver. This includes respect to self, classmates and the instructor by putting away technological devices (phones, ear buds, smart watches, computers) except when asked for and encouraged by the instructor. The more engaged a student is - the more prepared the new driver will be!
Students are also asked to provide a personal email address to be used to set up a Canvas account for the driver's education course material. See CONTRACT & INFORMATION to complete.
