In order for a young person to be eligible for Driver's Education in North Carolina, he/she will need to be 14 1/2 years of age or older. While North Carolina allows instruction to begin at this age, a young driver must be 15 years or older before North Carolina will allow anyone to take the written, computerized exam required to qualify for a learner's permit. Anyone may also refer to the NC DMV Handbook for pertinent required documents. Examples of documents may include: Completion certificate from approved NC Driving School, Certificate of Eligibility from the student's current school, Birth Certificate, Social Security Card and Proof of Residence (if not included on a prior document). These required documents and alternate forms of documentation may be found in the NC DMV Handbook - pages 15-17.
In the classroom, students will attend 5 days of 6 hour classes - dates and times determined and regularly posted on the website. Regular stretch breaks after each chapter or presentation and a 20-30 minute lunch break are offered students to remain fresh and attentive during instruction. Students may bring a packed lunch from home - microwave is provided. Snacks are available - various candy bars, chips, crackers/cookies, Gatorade, water, soft drinks - all are priced at $1.00 in order to restock supplies as needed. Students are on the honor system of paying for snacks, change cannot be made.
Parents/Students are asked to print the Contract Page - fill in all information - scan and return through email (rightgeards@gmail.com) at least one week before assigned classroom instruction begins. Please be sure all information is legible - especially the email addresses.
