December Results

Based on the research we have conducted so far, we have decided on a few design specifications to begin our fabrication. These include:

  • a neoprene belt that does not obstruct the riding process and can fit multiple waist sizes
  • 6 3-D DC accelerometers with low frequency and high sensitivity
  • arduino mega board
  • a box to house the microcontroller, battery pack, and microSD card

These items will all be connected to create a working sensor. A simple prototype version of this sensor collecting accelerations in the x, y and z direction can be seen in the video below. The proposed attachment of the IMU's is shown in the image below.
