The hotel had a piano in the Medieval Hall which served as the breakfast room and Luke played in the morning for the guests. Just as impressive was the rooftop bar and terrace with 360 degree views of the city.
Young Ryan wanted to see Donatello's bronze David to compare to MIchelangelo's David. Both are masterpieces.
June 2nd is a national holiday and we were treated to parades, bands, and a game of rugby where anything goes!
Bistecca alla Florentina was on our "must have" list. A rare, thick-cut T-bone steak from young Chianina cattle was ordered. It did not disappoint. Pizza completed the scrumptuous meal and as always we stopped for gelato.
After 9 days, 3 teenagers and 100,000 steps, Dad needed a drink. There was a funny sign in the bathroom of the bar.
The trip far exceeded our expectations and I thank the guides and driver who took care of all the details. It touched my heart when many of our fellow travelers, after the last dinner commented what a nice family we were and that the children interacted with them with gusto.
