Elijah Spackman was born May 24, 1852 in Burbage, England to Henry Edwin Jr. and Ann Bond Hibbard Spackman. Elijah in an honorary Pioneer.
The early history of Elijah is unknown. Details about when Elijah was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is unknown, as his parents were converted in 1850 and have moved to the United States by 1872. Records show that Elijah was not baptized into the Church until about 1882. By then, Elijah had married Martha Jane Smith on Dec 30, 1871 in Burbage, England.
The Spackman family sailed on the Nevada on May 17, 1882 and arrived in New York City, New York on May 29.1 From New York, the family took trains to Utah and arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on June 4, 1882. The family stayed in Salt Lake City until the last week of June, moving to Richmond. Elijah farmed in Richmond for 11 years before moving to Dayton, Idaho to fish out his retirement.
In 1901, Martha died from a sudden heart attack. After her death, he remarried to Katherine Josephine Bagley on April 30, 1902 and moved back to Richmond.
Elijah Spackman died Nov 5, 1917 in Richmond. He was buried in the Richmond Cemetery.
