Emma Bloomfield was born March 18, 1827 in Bungay Holy Trinity, England to John and Martha Riches Bloomfield. Emma is a Pioneer of Cove.
"Emma Bloomfield ... was the eldest of six children and had to help earn money to help the family. She was only six years old when she learned to reel silk and was so small that she had to stand on a stool. Later she worked in a gentleman's family as a servant. There were not many conveniences in those days, so she did the washing by rubbing the clothes between her hands.
"Emma was baptized into the LDS Church by William Budge and immigrated to Utah. She md (1) 26 Oct 1861 Isaac Hawk Bail in the Endowment House, as a plural wife. She continued to work out to help support the family. She never had any children of her own. Her husband d. 7 Nov 1871 and on 14 Feb 1872, she went to work as a housekeeper for Mark Preece whose wife had died just a week after her husband died. Mark had five small children between the ages of three months and eight years old. She married Mark 27 Nov 1872 and was a good and faithful wife and mother to his children.
"...She was a small, blue-eyed woman, very ambitious and clean and careful. She was active in the auxiliaries of the Church."
In the fall of 1878, Emma became sick, and the following year she had a paralytic stroke. Emma died May 17, 1887 in Cove. She was buried in the Franklin, Idaho, Cemetery.
