Margaret Thomson was born Oct 4, 1833 in St. Cuthberts, Scotland to John and Margaret Ballantyne Thomson. Margaret is a Pioneer of Richmond.
Margaret learned to be a houseworker at a young age when her mother was sick with a lung desies. She worked for many other individuals for pay after her mother died. She went to school until she was the age of 13.Â
It is not clear as to when the Thomson family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but early enough that in 1852, Margaret and family moved from England to Utah with expenses from her uncle and the Emigration Fund. Once they arrived to the place to be put into companies, Margaret was part of the Abraham O. Smoot Company and arrived in Salt Lake City on Sep 3, 1852 as one of the first Pioneers to have made the journey on the Emigration Fund.
Margaret first started working for Ariah Coates Brower before marrying him on Feb 6, 1853 in the Endowment House, Salt Lake City, Utah. Some time later, the family moved to Richmond.
Margaret Thomson died Aug 26, 1866 in Richmond. She was buried in the Richmond Cemetery.
