Christena Swenson

Christena Swenson was born July 10, 1834 in Balkeryd, Sweden to Sven Jacobsson and Ingiered Smuelsson.

History

The Swenson family moved from Sweden to Bornholm, Denmark when Christena was the age of 5. Years later in 1860, she was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Christena left her family to Utah in 1866. She arrived in Utah Sep 29, 1866 and begain living in Wanship, Utah with a family of a bishop. She lived in Wanship for two and a half years before she met and married Hans Madsen Funk and moved to Richmond.

Christena lived in Richmond, helped settle Weston, Idaho, and spent the rest of her life in Newton when Hans was called as bishop of the area.

Epilogue

Christena Swenson died May 12, 1886 in Newton, Utah. She was buried in the Richmond Cemetery.
