About

Milo Andrus Hendricks was born Feb 25, 1865 in Richmond to William Dorris and Mary Jane Andrus Hendricks.

History

In Milo's early years, while his father was contracted to build a railroad from Utah to Montana, Milo was assigned as a water carrier and dump car horse. While he was not working on the railroad, he was attending to his family's farm which he disliked.

In 1883, Milo was able to attend Brigham Young College, along with many of his siblings. The same year, Milo found interest in attending the University of Deseret in Salt Lake City, Utah, which he did, and later attended the Brigham Young Academy in Provo, Utah. After some time, Milo decided to drop out of school.

In 1886, Milo and his brother-in-law William C. Underwood purchased a railroad outfit to make some money. However, before he could participate in the railroad, he was called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Milo was called to the Southern States Mission focusing in Virginia and was ordained a member of the Seventy. Milo served until 1888.

While on his mission, Milo stayed in touch with Mary Adrienne Harris. They were married on Sep 19, 1888 in the Logan, Utah Temple. Soon after, the couple moved to Lewiston, then Oxford.
