William Smith Hendricks was born Feb 6, 1856 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Dorris and Alvira Lavona Smith Hendricks. William is a Pioneer of Richmond.

History

The early history of William is unknown. William married Margaret Minerva Rainey on Jan 23, 1879 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Soon after their marriage they moved to Gentile Valley, Idaho and moved back to Richmond in 1884. They started the construction of the home in 1884 and finished the final part of it in 1911. They used the home as a hotel and for a time also built a business in downtown Richmond for a short time.

William entered the practice of polygamy by marrying Rhoda Louisa Merrill on July 21, 1889 in the Logan, Utah Temple. They had one child together.

William S. Hendricks served on the City Council until his resignation in June of 1901. Source

Epilogue

William Smith Hendricks died Aug 3, 1923 in Logan, Utah due to stomach and liver cancer. He was buried in the Richmond Cemetery.
