Alvira Lavona Smith was born Dec 16, 1831 in Kirtland, Ohio to Warren and Amanda Melissa Barnes Smith.

History

At a young age, Alvira lost her father during the Hauns Mill Masicure and was raised primarily by her mother. After some time the family moved to Quincy and then to Nauvoo, Illinois. While there, she helped save some money for the construction of the temple. After being driven out of Nauvoo, the family settled in Keosauqua, Iowa for four years. The Smith family joined the Shadrach Roundy Company on June 22, 1850 and arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on Sep 10.

Alvira married William Dorris Hendricks on Aug 4, 1851 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They moved to Richmond in 1860.

Epilogue

Alvira Lavona Smith died Aug 25, 1921 in Logan, Utah. She was buried in the Richmond Cemetery.
