Selena Marshall was born Feb 22, 1846 in Linton, England to Thomas and Sarah Goode Marshall. Selena is a Pioneer of Cove.
When Selena was young, her father was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1848. Later, Selena's mother also converted and was baptized in 1850. Soon after, the Marshall family prepared to move to the United States and be with the other Saints. In 1853, Selena's father died, but her mother was still determined to move to the United States.
The Marshell family left Liverpool on the S. Curling on April 19, 1856 and arrived in Boston, Massachusetts on May 23.1 Via train, the Marshell family arrived in Iowa City, Iowa and joined the Edmund Ellsworth Company on June 9, 1856, the first handcart company. The Marshall family arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on Sep 26. The Marshall family were the first pioneers to enter the Salt Lake Valley using a handcart.
A week after their arrival, the Marshell family moved to Ogden, Utah. In 1860, the Marshall family moved to Franklin, Idaho in April of 1860. The Marshall family was soon able to build their own home in the settlement. In 1863, Robert Gregory moved into Franklin, and he and Selena became acquainted with one other. Selena and Robert were married on Jan 2, 1863 in Franklin, Idaho.
The Gregory family continued to live and farm in Franklin until 1871 when they moved to Cove. In the area, Selena acted as a nurse and midwife, helping to bring an estimated 200 babies into the world with Dr. Herbert A. Adamson. After Robert died in 1900, Selena continued to live in Cove.
In 1914, Selena sold her farm and moved to Franklin, Idaho. Selena Marshall died Jan 1, 1918 in Cove from diabetes. She was buried in the Franklin, Idaho Cemetery.
