Charlotte Marie Gregory was born Feb 1, 1868 in Franklin, Idaho to Robert and Selena Marshall Gregory. Charlotte is a Pioneer of Richmond.
In 1872, the Gregory family moved to Cove to farm some recently purchased land. When logs were needed to build the home, Charlotte was entrusted by her father to ride the horses while he loaded the drag with logs. For most of Charlotte's childhood, she had no shoes to wear except for some moccasins on Sundays for Church.
As early as age 16, Charlotte and Mark Henry Preece were recognized as a couple and would attend dances in Cove and the surrounding area. Charlotte and Mark were married on May 20, 1885 in the Logan, Utah Temple.
In 1894, Mark was called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Southern States Mission. In order to provide for her family, Charlotte would teach school during the summer and knitted socks and stockings, along with some farm work. Mark returned in 1896. During this time, the hay barn and cattle barn were burnt down.
In 1907, Mark was called again to serve a mission, this time to Great Britain. With older children at home, the stress of caring for the family was much less during Mark's first mission. Mark only served for 15 due to poor health.
In 1911, while traveling from Richmond after purchasing groceries, Dr. Hebert A. Adamson found Charlotte and offered an orphaned baby to Charlotte. The original mother did not want her child, and Dr. Adamson could not take it. After consoling with her family, the Preece's welcomed the last child to the family in 1911.
Charlotte Marie Gregory died Sep 3, 1943 in Cove. She was buried in the Franklin, Idaho Cemetery.
