Levi Gifford was born Aug 15, 1789 in Conway, Massachusetts to Noah Samuel and Mary Bowerman Gifford. Levi is a Pioneer of Richmond.
The early history of Levi is few and far between. When he was 18, he moved to New York and Pennsylvania. In 1816, he joined the Methodist Church and was an active member for eight years until he felt that it did not have the Priesthood.1 In 1816, Levi married Deborah Wing in New York.
Levi's brother, Alpheus, had converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in early 1831. Alpheus introduced the teachings of the Church to Levi, and he felt that it was true, and was baptized into the Church in 1831.1
Soon after his baptism, the Gifford family moved with the Saints to Kirtland, Ohio. While there, Levi participated in Zion's Camp and was ordained in the First Quorum of the Seventy. Soon after, the Gifford family moved to Missouri. In 1839, the Gifford family moved to Nauvoo, Illinois.
After the assassination of Church President Joseph Smith, the Gifford family moved to Iowa. On June 5, 1850, the Gifford family joined the Benjamin Hawkins Company and arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on Sep 9.
It is not exactly known what Levi did while in Utah. In 1860, the Gifford family moved to Richmond.
Levi Gifford died March 4, 1860 in Moroni, Utah. He was buried in the Moroni, Utah Cemetery.
