Magdalene O. Westenshow

Magdaline Olsen Westenskow was born Dec 1, 1839 in Loder Orslev, Denmark to Ole Hansen Westenshow and Maren Hansdatter.

History

After the death of Magdalines mother, missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints visited the Westenskow home. Her brothers accepted the gospel and moved to Utah soon after their baptisms in 1862. Magdaline didn't join the Church until 1864  and that same year, began her journey to Utah by herself. She sailed from England to America on The General McClellan. She joined a compony to travel the plains and while in Wyoming, she met Marcus Esper Funk who was part of a convoy to help the compony she was in. By the time the whole compony reached Salt Lake City on Sep 1864, Marcus and Magdalines were engaged. After visiting her brothers in Manti and being married to Marcus in Manti, they moved to Richmond and lived there for many years. 

Epilogue

After some time, the couple moved to Washington, Utah to help settle the area. They lived there for many years before moving to Trenton and living there for the rest of their lives. Magdaline Olsen Westenskow died March 10, 1928 in Trenton, Utah. She was buried in the Trenton Cemetery.
