Carolin Alvira Hardy was born March 9, 1840 in Searsmont, Maine to Zachariah and Eliza Ann Philbrook Hardy. Caroline is a Pioneer of Richmond.
The early life of Carolin is unknown. She was about 3 years old when her family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Soon after, the family moved to Nauvoo, Illinois just before the assassination of Chruch President Joseph Smith.
The Hardy family joined the Benjamin Gardner Company on June 2, 1852 to trek west. They arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on Sep 27. Soon after, the Hardy family moved to Grantsville, Utah where she was hired by Isabell McBride Dayley to take care of her while she was sick. After noticing she was not getting better, she told Carolin to marry her soon-to-be widower husband James Dayley so someone could take care of her children.
Carolin married James Dayley on March 18, 1857 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Caroline continued to care for Isabell, as well as her children. After Isabell's death in 1861, the Dayley family moved to Richmond by invitation to James' son Enoch R. Dayley. In 1868, the family moved back to Grantsville, Utah.
Caroline Alvira Hardy died on Oct 7, 1930 in Oakley, Idaho. She was buried in the Basin, Idaho Cemetery.
