Sophronia Allen was born Nov 6, 1829 in Burton, New York to Andrew Lee Allen and Clarinda Knapp. Sophronia is a pioneer of Richmond.
Sophronia was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a young child and was part of LDS expeditions of Kirtland, Ohio; Nauvoo, Illinois; and Salt Lake City, Utah.
Sophronia married Jacob H. Rose in Iowa on Nov 19, 1849. They moved to Carson Valley, Nevada where a branch of the Church was located with Apostle Orson Hyde presiding. In 1850, Momon Battalion members discovered gold near Carson City, Nevada and Jacob became invested in the search for gold. Sopronia, however, wanted to leave Nevada and live with her family in Utah. Jacob and Sophronia later divorced and her brother Charles took her to San Bernardino, California. Before their divorce, Sophronia gave birth to Nancy Jane Rose and took her to Utah.
While in California, Sophronia met Abraham Foster. They married on Feb 23, 1863 in San Bernadino, California. They moved to Utah in 1862 and settled in Cove. They farmed and lived in Richmond for many years in Cove and Richmond until they moved to Mapleton, Idaho in 1881.
A few years after moving to Mapleton, Idaho, Abraham died in 1883 and was buried in Richmond. Sophronia moved back to Cove afterwards and lived with their eldest daughter Alice up until her death on Oct 19, 1912. She was buried in the Richmond Cemetery.
