Joanna Goold was born Dec 25, 1838 in Glasgow, Scotland to Hugh and Elisabeth Leslie Muir Goold.

Early Life

Early history of Joanna is unknown up until she was 20 when Joanna married John Reilly on July 20, 1857 in Tradeston, Scotland. A few year later, the couple were introduced the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were baptized Aug 20, 1863 Hanars, Scotland.

John and three children, but only their oldest, Elizabeth Muir Reilly, lived passed the age of seven. Sometime in the late 1860's, John and the ship he was on was lost to sea, making Joanna a widow, and single mother. With no other family to help her, she began the journey to move to Utah with the other Saints.

Joanna and Elizabeth boarded the Minnesota, and sailed to New York, July 28, 1869. They made their way to Utah, and secured jobs for themselves after moving to Ogden, Utah.

On Feb 21, 1870, Joanna married Edmund Buckley in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she later moved to Richmond.

Epilogue

Joanna Goold died July 31, 1895 in West Jordan, Utah. She was buried in the West Jordan Cemetery.
